3rd link after Googling Awkward Zombie.

http://webcomicoverlook.com/2007/12/10/ ... rd-zombie/

Long link is long.
Scroll down to near the bottom, and it's the (most likely ancient) review for Awkward Zombie.

I don't trust this guy's reviews.

He gave Megatokyo a 5. What.

Awkward Zombie
And finally, “Awkward Zombie.” “Penny Arcade” is generally seen as the father to the bodaciously thousands of webcomic imitators that sprung up from all over the web. While “Ctrl+Alt+Del” might be its uncannily similar son who’s a lot more like his father than he admits, Katie Tiedrich’s “Awkward Zombie” is the bony, zit-faced, homely younger daughter who smells like sweatsocks. (If you think that’s harsh, you should see how Dietrich draws herself in her own comic. Man, I’m as tired as anyone about artists who draw themselves to be a hot anime princess, but … dang. I had half a mind to tell Katie, “You don’t look so bad, girl! Ain’t nothing wrong with making yourself look, uh, female, you know what I’m sayin’?”)

Now, I’m aware of the flaws of this comic. The cartooning style isn’t very polished. the whole video game premise — and, indeed, video game parodies — had been done to death. Yet, I can’t help it. I actually find this little webcomic to be pretty humorous. There are times when I don’t know who the characters are, yet Tiedrich makes up for it with some silly (and totally nerdy) gags that somehow tickle my funny bone. I feel like a movie critic trying to describe a Jim Carrey movie. You know that seeing Carrey talk out of his butt is totally juvenile, yet you can’t help but laugh anyway. And, you know, half the time, the characters move, act, and look like Jim Carrey. Even if I didn’t get the game-based humor, the characters and their wonderful goofball faces are enough to make me crack a smile. Rating: 4/5

OH LAWD

Well, he at least gave a few good points to his reasoning, while a being a bit unnecessarily harsh.

But yea, giving Megatokyo, although I kind of like it, a five and AZ a 4 sounds slightly biased.

Geez. That's pretty terrible. He didn't like Applegeeks, either.

What kind of loser writes reviews about webcomics, anyway?

I would've given VGcats a... 2, to be honest. I mean, while some jokes are hilarious, a lot of them are just downright rubbish or entirely shallow parodies. The fact that it updates only once a week (or, at least, that was the case) doesn't help.

As for Megatokyo... it can't be rated properly. Because it's pretty much the only popular webcomic that's not humour-based.

applegeeks got 1, megatokyo got 5

you know why applegeeks was downed?

self insertion of artist into comic

that's exactly what fred did

except he's a fat fuck with greasy shit long hair

this webcomic reviewer is biased

edit; who the hell rates out of 5, anyway

The complaint wasn't with author insertion, but with genuinely bad, Mary Sue-esque author insertion, and a HUGE case of adding in the author's ideals too (hence why everyone in the world, and beyond, loves Apple and hates Microsoft)! All traits of the characters were either unhumanly awesome (especially during the sudden genre switch arc) or artificially bad. And always the target of the spotlight.

Megatokyo didn't. While Pyro has the socially oblivious personality pretty much standard of wecomic authors, it was actually believable and not ridiculously over-exaggerated, while also being otherwise a perfectly normal guy and not the usual center of attention. And Largo... well, nobody could claim that was anything other than the same name as the author.

Plus, Applegeeks was rarely funny to boot. I've read it.

I hate Apple more than I hate M$.

I think it's funny that people think a machine being Apple or M$ makes that big of a difference in this day and age.

All I care about is if it can run Adobe CS3/4.

Actually, it still does. A lot of difference. A lot.

I'm presuming by "Apple and MS" you mean "Macintosh and Windows". Unless you're trying to say that both companies are just machines.

Agreed! He's the kinda person that gives a 0/5 to every webcomic not called PennyArcade.
