I had some work done on my teeth last year, and they needed to use gas. It's kind of strange. I was fully conscious (or at least it felt like it), but it was just really hard to concentrate on what the dentist was telling me, and it still felt uncomfortable (but not painful) when he used things like needles.

Hmm. Well when I can get them out (Right now I think I'm getting an infection where one of them is coming out, my jaw hurts to even move) I'll keep in mind what you guys told me. There are worse things to be done I suppose right?

I think it'll hurt less when they're out too...It hurts a lot more whenever they decide to start breaking through the gums..

You better hope it's not an infection; Those can be serious.

I just have to say that if you have the option of being knocked out or just being numbed go for the numbing. It doesn't hurt and when they take the tooth out you'll hear a sound you will never forget. Also I thought it fealt sorta neat.

But then I'm really weird.

Tempting...

But I think I'd pass.

It was weird enough being conscious as they scraped a surface cavity off and the drill let me taste the part of tooth they were...buffering off.

Ees true. They had to double it for me. Talk about needles in your face.

I think I was a rarity in the fact that they didn't put me to sleep. Normally they knock you out. I've asked many people about it after it happened to me and I never found anyone who was only numbed.

Stories...

Back when I was 13, my dad's friend (yey 55-60 years old?) had to have some infected tooth removed. I saw the space where it once occupied, and I was disgusted, thinking of the horrible time I'd have to go through that when I was that old. I didn't brush my teeth much back then either, until two days later when my brother, 3 years younger than me, had to have HIS wisdom teeth removed. I realized that this stuff could happen when you were young, too.

I brush my teeth every day and night, drink at least 2 cups of milk a day, and eat an apple a day. I am that afraid.

I still have my last wisdom tooth removed in a little baggie somewhere and when I find it I'll make a necklace out of it.
