For English class today I have to read a 160+ page long novel every single month. That means no collections of short H.P. Lovecraft stories and no comics (which are what I've been reading lately). I've already decided to read TommyKnockers by Stephen King, Odd Thomas by Dean Koontz, Flow my Tears, The Policeman Said by Philip K. Dick, and Fight Club by Chuck something. So that covers four months. I need more good horror/sci-fi books to read :psyduck: So, suggest shit.

I own 1984 and have tried numerous times to start reading it. It seems so slow in the beginning, and getting further is more trouble than it's worth. I'll definitely check out the Koontz book, though.

Catch-22 by Joseph Heller is my favorite book and everyone should read it.

It's about four hundred pages and not scifi or horror, but you should read it anyway, daisies it, because it's a really well-written schadenfreudey comedy.

I got Sailor Moon reading 1984 as well, and she said the same thing. It starts out slow, but it gets better, trust me. Has a great ending, in my opinion.

I don't really have any good sci-fi/ horror books to recommend, But I can recommend Inkheart by Cornelia Funke.

I can also recommend Cry of the Icemark which is sort of bloody and gruesome if you're looking for that, it's sequal is double what Cry of the icemark is. Both Inkheart and Cry of the icemark are supposed to be movies soon.

I've placed a hold for it on my local libraries website. :eng101:

I think my brother has a copy of it. I'll take it from him. :eng101:

Thanks for the suggestions, guys.

Blue Moon Rising, Deathstalker series (both Simon R. Green). The dune prequel series are also good, bro loves House Atreides. I know many people don't like it, but the Redwall series are great also.

It is wicked good. It starts off a little slow, but once you get into the main part of the book it gets really sweet. I recommend it highly.

I cannot stand books that begin slowly. :shakefist:

Candide - Voltaire.
Rape, murder, sailors, and an important message on life.

Ishmael, An Adventure of the Mind and Spirit. By Daniel Quinn.

It is, hands down, one of the greatest books I have ever read. It changes your view on everything.
