but there's ice dragons for some reason in other things because they adapted to it. Plus it's pokemon or something I don't even know.

Sometimes in cold weather a bird's feathers can get ice crystals forming on them, rendering them incapable of flight.

I was under the impression that the Dark-type comes from the Japanese perspective of dark and stuff, so rather than just cool evil and black-colored things it means like, the evil part of the mind and corruption and stuff. Hence why it stops the mind-based powers of Psychic.
