I just watched the Deadliest Catch special on Phil Harris.
Manly tears were shed.

My stepdad got hit on his motorcycle a week ago.

Oh no! Is he gonna be okay?

He's not dying, which is nice. His helmet saved him, but he had a lot of open wounds and such. He can barely move his neck and shoulders, so we're thinking he bruised his spinal cord or something. Nothing broke, thank God. He's not able to work for a while, though, and he's self-employed doing maintenance, and he doesn't have worker's comp. I'm taking over for the two weeks until I leave for New York, but there'll still be at least a month before he can work again.

The same happened to my dad. He got picked up off the road by a trucker though and was pretty beat all over with a broken collar bone.

Oh God. That's terrible...my stepdad called mom and was walking around right after he got hit. Couldn't remember he was even hit for a few minutes.

My dad also wrecked on his motorcycle, but the weird thing is he called me right after the crash and told me to call my mom (Who was in Utah at that time). A few days later he tells me he doesn't remember ever calling me.

Some kind of trauma-induced memory loss or something?

I've concluded from this thread that all fathers are terrible at riding motorcycles. Although my stepdad wasn't at fault in his accident.
