4chan and EbaumsWorld have been attacking the site since an HTML/JavaScript exploit in the comment system was uncovered. This allows the triggering of user-made pop-ups, site redirects, and the disabling of the "inappropriate content" flagging system. There are now thousands of videos that redirect to malicious and vulgar sites, as well as child pornography and rape videos on YouTube itself. /b/ is also attempting to steal account information through this exploit.

Please avoid using YouTube for the duration of Independence Day.

For those wondering what it was, some people found an exploit in the comment system that let them activate Javascript code. Which meant they could pretty much do anything as long as their comment is loaded by the browser.

That might have something to do with not only that they put in a temporary chat quite some time ago, but they've also completely fixed the problem.


$10 says there'll still be people posting about how "nothing is happening" despite being told twice that it's over.
