Myes.
Even if they do get finger-ray'd they just smoke a little bit and stand back up after that in the games.
I see four things wrong with the faceblast scene.
1. Roy has died with an actual injury.
2. Roy has not flown off screen.
3. Roy is still standing in that spot.
4. Roy's skin is burned off his skull instead of looking slightly burned.

They usually look like they were smashed with a wrecking ball in the game when they get hit. Even with LASERS. Minus Fox's little blasty toy.

I guess it has to do with being booted off the character roster.
