Toon Link used the teleporter in Kleiner's lab but it broke down and he found himself in adult Link's world with weird colours! It all happens ten billion years after A Link to the Past.

And we really can't talk timeline in concerns to this game yet. We know nothing of what it's about. Though it relates to swords and heaven.

Haha no. People just made them up. And then Miyamoto made one up to shut everybody up even though he doesn't really care himself, as far as I can remember.

Even the fact that it's a split timeline has been officially confirmed.

I remember 'cause I raged for 10 minutes at the announcement. I was a very strict single timeline theorist back then. But Split timeline makes more sense I guess. It's also a bit more organized.
