Woop, Pyro un-nerfed!

Well, a little bit anyway. 20% damage boost to the backburner, 70% duration boost to the flare gun fire.

A couple friends and I tried over using the air blast.

IT SHOULD NOT BE THIS EFFECTIVE.

Pyro use to be so incredibly overpowered, this nerf is welcome. The 20% bonus to backburner, however, isn't :colbert:

It's either spam AB or W+M1 with the backburner. Pyro is still OP, but only slightly and only if you know how to use AB properly. Like, seriously, I can't tell you how many reflect kills I've gotten. Using the BB now though. It's like being a spy except not.

Everything is overpowered, spies are cheap, snipers are annoying, blah blah blah.
I think this is a reasonable compromise.

It all comes down to player skill.

If you keep getting killed by a backburner pyro that's your fault for letting it get you constantly.

RAEG

Ok, if a pyro manages to get in your range ( which is quite easy, since they run rather fast) there is almost no hope. The BB means you can't turn and run since you'll get crit to death, back-walking slows you down and you get burned to death anyway. If your playing, say, a soldier. Sure, you could rocket him to death or blast him out of range. But if you're playing a medic (or engy or spy or sniper) you are fucked.

Yep. That's what a close range class does. Kills exceedingly well at close range...

Close range.

Blutsauger. Medics run faster than Pyros. If you don't have a Blutsauger, your regeneration will counter the afterburn.

If you have Dead Ringer, you'll be fine.

I've seen snipers scope in and headshot from close range.

It all comes down to player skill and luck of the draw with your items.

then just kill him?

Scout: use fan to knock him away/ just double jump back then run away. your out of his range

soldier: if hes using the backburner blow him the fuck up? if hes using the normal then rocket jump away or blow him away when he gets close?

demo: multiple pipebombs on the go, he cant set you on fire while airblasting and if he is hes using the backburner, procede to still blow him the fuck up

heavy: i really dont think i need to explain this one

engineer: why is there a pyro near you, are you a bad sentry maker?

medic: why are you by yourself

sniper: why did you let him get close enough

spy: why did you let him see you

No listen, the obvious thing to say is "Just kill it", but look at this example.

The pyro has 175 health and his flamethrower does 122 damage a second at closet range. Statistically, an engineer with a shotgun does 80-90 damage pointblank every 0.6 seconds. This means a close range pyro can shred an engineer while the engineer only takes 3/4 of the pyros health (assuming every shell hits the pyro). Excluding crits, teammates, or his sentrygun an engineer within the pyro's firing range can NOT escape nor bring the pyro down. But, let's say I'm wrong, and the damage testing at TF2 Wiki is off. It doesn't excuse the fact the pyro has a ridiculous amount of health and run speed. Ambush pyros are rare and far between, as most I see go for the M+1ing tactics.

The way I see it, for Valve to make a pyro an attractive and balanced class I think they should lower his health and cripple his movement speed to that of a soldier. That way, a pyro would be forced to ambush to get any effective kills.

This is what I think and have always thought of the pyro. If you want to keep arguing about this then p.m. me. I don't want to bog this thread down with another one of my pyro rages.

I mean, all the classes are cheap one way or another.

Otherwise the game would be boring. :I

And now you're looking at a horribly underpowered class. I can understand, maybe, demo speed but soldier? No. That and a health nerf is just wrong. Pick one.
