now i regret starting Dr Ned earlier and not doing anything, because now everything is 6 levels below me, i can one shot them all, plus i have like 7 orange weapons now, which is cool

It gets funnier if you're playing as a properly specced Lilith when you realize that with a big enough shield you can simply run past all of the lance in the zone outside of the Armory. Meaning that technically all I have to bring is a shotgun to kill Knoxx with and a corrosive weapon to kill reinforcements.

The only sad thing is that there's two areas where most of the chests contain level 48 stuff...and one of the areas contains most of the Crimson chests.

Or you could kill Crawmerax and get tons of orange and even pearlesant weapons.

I actually did this just now. At first I thought "aw crap my only good shock weapon is a blue SMG" but I used the Jakobs Skullmasher and it went quite well.
