My textbook for Japanese language just asked if I want to be a boy or girl.

The GPA scale is as follows;

An A for the semester/quarter/etc. is equal to a 4
A B " " is equal to a 3
A C " " is equal to a 2
A D " " is equal to a 1
An F " " is equal to a 0

You take that scale and apply it to your grades, then add all those numbers together, and divide it by the total numbers you added by (basically taking the average.)

Then, in the cases of AP/Honors/etc., the scale is sometimes bumped up to a 5 to 0 scale.
A = 5
B = 4
C = 3
etc. etc.

Your GPA is still calculated the same way.

I have a 3.0 grade point average. Don't even know how I managed that.
Well, I did last time... This time, I dunno. I think I pulled it off like this:

Language Arts - D
Science - C
History - B
Math - A
Specials and such - Satisfactory

oh god I don't wanna go to summer school again, there are so many things I need to do over the summer

also schools are good for my pokewalker. i pull it out during classes and it's so tiny the teachers hardly ever notice it.

Whatever, I still don't know why you even use GPA instead of just 0-100%.

Also, in Canada, there's no such thing as AP. In Grade 9 and 10, there are "Academic" and "Applied" classes (Academic being the higher level, which most students take).
Then in Grade 11 and 12, it splits into University level (only available with Academic prerequisites), University/College level (available to both previous levels), and just College level (still available to both, but a very bad decision if you've passed Academic).

Also, there is only one type of each class in Grade 9 and 10 (besides the Academic and Applied split). For example, there's only one available Math class, English class, and Science class in those grades. They only split into more specific studies in Grade 11 and 12.

We do use a 0-100% scale...
When figuring out final grades that is, those are then translated into a GPA.
GPA are a quick, efficient way of gauging a students academic achievement.

Grade Point Average? You mean like the letters we use for our grades, or our actual term "Grade Point Average?"

I don't know why we use the letters. In fact, my school uses 1's, 2's, 3's and 4's, but for the most part I and everyone else thinks of them as A's B's C's D's and F's. I guess maybe we do it so that our parents don't see it and go "Oh that's a low score, I'm gonna give you a hard time for it." On the report cards it all rounds up to whatever letter grade it was, so sometimes that's all they see.

It just seems a bit redundant to me. Why use it at all?

Like, a parent might have a better reaction to a B than an 84%. Same with a 71% and a C. So evidently, grades are all about making us feel BETTER ABOUT OURSELVES~

Ve use a grading system of 6-1 here in Norvay, vere 6 is the highest.
But for some fuckstupid reason, the teachers doesn't give out 6 to those who goes in the first grade.

I still get top grades in most af the classes.
Except Gym.

But that I might get an exemption from that because af sickness.

our history teacher trolled most of our class today haha


she told us to line up because we were "starting the year anew" and we all walked in quietly, and she told us to sit down and be quiet. then she put sheet on the overhead with an oath on it, telling us to be committed and stuff to getting 5s on the AP test, bring our books and test prep stuff everyday. then she told us that she heard some bad things being thrown around by the students that were at the AP european history meeting yesterday, and that she's sure that it's somebody in our class. she was also acting super serious, and she's scary when she acts serious. most of my classmates were shaking in their boots. she then passes around some slips of paper for us to write the name of the person down, because she said she's sure we all know who it is. she collects all of them and then says, "oh.. so i was right. ron, come over here while the class watches this video."

she then brings ron to the back of the room and puts on "triumph of the will", and she shouts, "just kidding!". laughter ensues.

Got our report cards today.
80% average.

FUCK YES.

I had 35% in a class because the teacher is an incompetent asshole, but I turned it a test and got extra credit so now I'm at 65% woo

i'd cry if i had an 80% average
