The Double Clawshots just could have been cooler. Their only use is using one while hanging on with the other. Remember those enemies with the masks you had to pull off with the clawshot? Remember the giant ones whose masks were too big to pull off? Don't you think Link could have used both clawshots at once to pull it off?
Dual-wielding is, by definition, potentially badass. Do it justice next time.
I just generally hated having one clawshot, because it was so very inferior compared to the hookshot. All it could do was... what you said, really. Attach to grates, pull off enemy armor, and maybe attach to switches, if they were the right shape. And of course, NO GETTING TO PULL YOURSELF FROM ROOF TO ROOF BECAUSE THE CLAWSHOT SUCKS. >:[
They should've shrinked down the ball and chain to a more manageable size and made it like a mace on a much longer chain. Link isn't so retarded he couldn't figure out to hold near the top of the chain so he could swing them and throw them. They wouldn't do as much damage but screw it, I don't want to do more damage if I have to put it away after every use, unless I want to walk around like I have the iron boots on.
I also saw a lot of potential in the spinner that was wasted. They could have easily turned it into a quick and easy means of transportation when Epona isn't available, like
inside temples. The only time the spinner is useful. Instead, when you try to speed through a room with it, it starts going slow after 5 seconds and you have to start walking anyways. Getting to zoom around on walls was pretty cool, but considering Zelda is notorious for
only ever putting things like that in one dungeon, then tiny, useless moments of it in others, it's just... wasted. Poor spinner, you could have been so much more. :'C
