It sucks when you play as somebody in Melee, then your friend chooses the same one and totally manages to kick your booty just because they button mashed when you spend a lot of time actually trying to play the game like somebody who isn't retarded.

Anyone who button mashes with Maxi in any Soul Calibur game.

Listen, all I'm saying is that there are competitive smashers that are cool, y'know? They're alright, but when you're in these tournaments, there's a majority of jackasses attending.

It's inevitable, it's just the thing with that type of demographic. There will always be good sports, polite dudes and dudettes, and then like a barrel full of douchebags.

They wittle on and on about they're pro skillz, chatting up every glitch and exploit in the game, when in reality, even the best smashers aren't technically "Pro", as they have no sponsers.

lolwut? Combos can't be blocked after one hit, and "50-button"? That's a baffling number. And how can they be "morons" if they memorize everything to be better anyway?
Bah, these (my complaints) are just trivialties really.


If you don't like combos, play Super Street Fighter II: Turbo, which is considered one of (if not, the best) fighting games that rarely ever has 5+ hit combos. Heck, nearly all 5 Hit combos you see are from supers (single move that naturally does 5 hit). Seems to me like you've been playing too much Marvel or Guilty Gear. Maybe Arcana Heart.

And why the fuck is barely anybody playing fighting games that aren't Smash? Heck, why Smash? I'd guess it's something that doesn't have to do with competition, but I'll just digress this point.

It has to do with learning curve and skill gap. Smash, being a nintendo game, is easy to learn, and those who are good are only one or 2 steps ahead of the rest.

However, pit up... let's say me, against a veteran street fighter, and I'll not know how to do diddly shit and get my booty handed to me deep fried with a side of ranch.

EDIT: also, Smash is not only new, but it appeals to a large demographic. The game is a fanservice after all, pitting yer favorite games against each other. Also, smash is a party game. It's just disguised as a fighting game. Don't be fooled, that's how people lose eyes.

daisies, you're just getting ridiculously tangented. It has nothing to do with whether I think the joke is good, but that those kinds of jokes are so weak that it's pathetic. They don't have any substance; they're just random guys laughing at random shit. If they laugh at that, might as well tie a stick on their heads with an apple with a face drawn on it, and they'd laugh forever.

Compared to, say, Marvel, Guilty Gear or Virtua Fighter, I'd agree, but there are other fighting games that are easy to learn. Though I would account "Nintendo fanservice" into the equation.

This just isn't true. At least in Melee; Brawl is still too new for me to settle on this, but right now I'm slanting towards "No, that's bullshit".

Who plays against veteran Street Fighter players quickly anyway? Online isn't worth shit (hoping HD Remix will fix that), so you'll mostly be playing with friends. If your friends are good, they'll teach you stuff, if you all suck, you can learn together.
And I would bet that a "veteran Smash player" can beat your booty faster than you can count to 100.

I'd guess the reasons would be "community effort is low nowadays" and "people don't have friends these days", but I already said that I was digressing, maybe I'll digress back in this direction, but I'll stop for now.
