Hey, first I wanted to say I'm a big fan of the comic here. Long time reader, first time caller if this were a radio show which it isn't so I don't really know where I'm going with this.

*cough*

Anyway, when I saw this week's comic, it lit a fire in my memory that went back years and years. I'm not certain where I first saw this, I just know the computer I was using at the time was a 133mhz Pentium with 32 megs of RAM, and was like the best computer I had ever seen in my life at the time, so use that to date this if you wanna.

Anyway, I was able to track this down from this site which I could not believe still existed because the last time I went there I was reading a Majora's Mask preview (although it is now defunct).

PANEL 1
Link: Sheik!
Sheik: So you've come, Link. Well then, I'll teach you the Bolero of Fire...

PANEL 2
Sheik: Now, follow along with me.
Link: Okay... Umm...

PANEL 3
Link: Huh? Hmm... No that's not right... Was it like this? Huh...?

PANEL 4
Link: I can get it. Could you teach me one more time?
Navi: Sheik's all burned up, Link...

Apparently it was one of a series of little Zelda funnies that ran in Japan (the rest are at the link I posted earlier as well). I think it's so cool that different writers on different continents in different decades could come up with the same joke.

Anyway, keep up the good work.

Nah, we do it for you. After you publish the comic. Look at it this way, most of us can actually read yours, and its funnier.

I don't think you need to worry. You obviously never saw it, and yours is funnier. Japanese humor is really hit or miss with me. I mean look ...

It actually makes sense, if you take the time to think about it. Phantom Gannon, the bossfight the comic takes place in, pops out of paintings, but he runs at you IN them first. So it stands to reason that if you put something in the picture, he'd have to deal with it. Thus the hole. Myself, I'dve gone for a large wall...preferably spiked, but there wouldn't be time for that, would there.

Too bad becuase it's actually a funny comic idea. Get some dialouge going with Navi saying "He's in the paintings! Do something! LISTENLISTENLISTEN!"
or some such rot. I don't know where I'm going with this anymore....

Too bad they copied that idea from Bugs Bunny.

Also, where does Link keep that pencil (don't answer that)

Or you could just flip the painting so it faces the wall.
COMEDY GOLD.

Or how about flipping all the paintings upside-down? :awesome:

Or have the paintings face each other, so he's stuck in an infinite loop. Or just cut the paintings in half with your sword. That'd work pretty good.

haha, Lyra's late as always.

Maybe Shiek just has, like, infinite hearts, or something.

explain to me how both Shiek and Link got owned before the Bottom of the Well opened up.

it was around them, it's been so long I totally forget, but all I know is that at some point Shiek got her booty kicked.

and as for the painting thing...

I'd draw a mustache on Phantom Ganon. And clown hair. It'd be worth the few hearts or so. And the possible mental trauma. :awesome:

A friend and me were playing some Zelda games recently (we take turns if we die). He pondered the whole thing about the fire tunic. I laughed at him and asked him if he was just stealing from the website. Apparently he hadn't checked the website for a few months. How funny it was though. This is probably going to end up like the whole "Batman breathing in space" thing only "Shiek in volcano w/o Goron Tunic". I'm actually wondering more about how the bean plant survived for seven years there.
