THIS THREAD IS NOT FOR DISTRIBUTION OF ROMS.

Now that that's out of the way, I'm sure most of the people here know what a ROM Hack is.

For those who don't even know what a ROM is, it stands for read-only memory. This data is usually contained within a cartridge game.

A ROM Hack is when you take that data in a special editor and edit values within the game to change the content.

Now that that's out of the way, what are some ROM Hacks that catch your interest?

For me:

Cockfighting Society ShinyGold - A Cockfighting Society FireRed ROM Hack that turns it into a remake of Gold/Silver/Crystal. INCOMPLETE. (Video 1, Video 2)

Super Metroid: Redesign - Edits the game's physics, sprites, room layout, and overall difficulty. COMPLETE. (Video 1)

I've played Redesign. Haven't beaten it though.

Is that the one where the wall jump was made an item and can only be done on certain surfaces? I've played a couple different SM hacks.

I've played boatloads of Mega Man 2 hacks... a lot of them were excellent.

IIDX has wicked awesome 8 bit versions of MMX1/2/3/? music.

I'm in the middle of playing Rockman Exhaust right now.... its freakin hard(quick man's laser beams are now in Flash Man's stage, so no pausing... and are 10x harder... move 1 pixel in the wrong direction and you're dead)

Zelda 2 part 2, and part 3.... if you thought Zelda 2 was hard I'd suggest not playing these hacks or you might get a concussion from slamming your head on your desk. I got so frustrated with them I cheated....

A great ROM hack you guys MUST play if you havent already, is Parallel Worlds... a LOZ:LTTP hack. Hard as hell at some points, but its so well done you wont even know its a hack.

I'm playing through the newest Shiny Gold beta, and it's pretty amazing. I'd recommend it to anyone (including myself) whining for a Gold/Silver remake.
