I lol'd at DoNotDelete. That was awesome.

And this comic was the best, because Marth-related violence is always funny.

Superspicy curry makes people spit fire.

Hur hur hur.

Thank God there's a part two, because this is just illustrating what happens in the game and throwing in some dialogue.

Poor Marth, got his girly hair toasted by links Dragon breath.

But yeah Curry is spicy, I've tried it, when I ate Ichiban ramen. Spicy spicy stuff, I haven't had ramen since.

Can't wait for next monday XD I bet Marth is trying to fix his hair.

I thought of this last night but forgot it but,

We seem to have been seeing a lot of Marth on a couch.

Interpret that as you like. I still say it's sexual.

...how can Link manage to speak with all those flames blasting out of his throat, anyway?

The same way Marth's hand was uninjured in the last panel?

Well, that one's simple.

He just pinched Link's lips shut. :/

Or maybe it's because Link's wearing a Goron Tunic under the Kokiri one. They are called that, right? My Ocarina of Time knowledge is rather rusty.

I knew this comic reminded me of something.

With better positioning, it could have been clearer that Fox was talking at the start.

Katie introduces Man-Jaw Samus in panel 3. Confirmed for Brawl!

Yeah - I wasn't sure if it was ZSS or Fox or someone else talking in the first panel.

One trick to deal with stuff like that is to give each character's specific speech bubble/dialogue box its own colour - but this risks being a big/unwelcome departure from Katie's existing style.

In the absence of being able to find anything on the net ( ) I've had to make an example:

It's not ideal because of the way Katie merges text boxes with the panel frames. Changing the colour of the text itself rather than the speech bubble/dialogue box may work better for some people. Regardless it's a useful tool if you're gonna do a lot of off-panel speaking.

I have revealed a new trick to you Katie - use it at your own peril!

While the colored balloons look good in some comics, it doesn't really work with how I panel, yeah. It also means you can never have ambiguous dialog, which, out of paranoia of needing it sometime in the future, I don't want to give up.

This is also an instance where knowing who's speaking in the first panel isn't that important, so long as you can tell it's not Link; I'd hoped it would be clear by the second panel since Link turns around to look at Fox. If it had to be fixed, I might've put a connecting tail between his balloons or something.

I like how colored balloons can look but I tend to save them for characters who talk through magic or telekenisis or Garfield thought bubbles, like Navi or Mewtwo or whatever.

I never thought of ambiguous dialogue actually - good point - I'd like to see how you might use that in the future.

It didn't really bother me that much who was speaking in the first panel either - it still made sense (it obviously wasn't Link) - it just seemed to be evolving into a topic of discussion.

Another good point - I've been reading a lot of Transformers stuff recently - sometimes every single character has their own colour/speech bubble "stylin" - this is probably more important because some characters don't have mouths (Optimus Prime) so it could be difficult to see who's talking even if you're looking at them head-on.

Actually, I'm probably thinking more of Fred Perry's "Gold Digger" stuff - his drawing style is loosely similar to yours and he uses coloured text boxes a heckuvvalot.

Thanks for responding though Katie - my comment was more about discussing than criticising your work. I wish I could churn out something like this every week!
