I'm updating before Friday. Or maybe Friday. I'm almost done either way.
Or just today. Also, I'm reusing an old image that had no real point before. And we're backtracking right now, to those who didn't read that before.

When night fell, the party heard a lovely sound, that of a Mandolin playing, accompanied by a voice that had neither attractive nor undesirable qualities.
Upon searching out the source, the trio ran into the Knight and his horse, sitting, playing a ditty upon the instrument he always carried around, a somber look upon his face.
Quote:
You seem downcast, Sir Knight. What are the origins of your troubles?
The Knight smiled sadly in reply and said,
Quote:
I am missing milady, good sirs. It has been so very long since I have seen her.
This surprised the friends, and they inquired,
Quote:
You have a sweetheart, Sir Gigsalot? Why haven't you told us before?
The Knight just smiled and gestured for them to sit down, as he would tell them.

Quote:
I once had a girl, or should I say, she once had me?

She was a Princess, an angel, kind and beautiful and pure as the morning sun. With gently curled chesnut hair and deep green eyes. I met her when I was asked to entertain her Highness with my exceptional Mandolin playing, oh, how she loved it, and her voice! The choirs of Heaven truly smiled down upon her.

During the times I played for her, we grew fond of each other, and she always loved hearing the stories of my adventures. Especially of Magicians. She was fascinated with magic, and I occasionally brought her gifts of spell books, wands, or a crystal ball. I taught her the little magic I knew, and from there she took it upon herself to learn on her own. It was her own undoing.

One day, I came home from a long journey and heard from the townsfolk that my Princess had been in an accident with her spells. Struck with fear, I ran to the tower, but when I called to her, she only sent out a messenger to tell me that she wanted no one to see her.
My Princess kept on with her studies, but I never saw her again. Though I have heard that she received an invitation to Lady Torizo's party, and I hope to find her there.
Now that the Knight had related to them his story, the adventurers weren't sure of how to respond. Though, the tale had shown them the good Knight's intentions for helping them retrieve the key, but now they wondered just how much he knew...
Kudos to whoever can spot the reference...
