Ack, I missed that too. This is why I'm not an English major, haha.

English has 2 or 3 different kinds of past tense, and "to be" is the one that gets the most mangled by these different tenses. Don't sweat it. Most people say it wrong.

(By the way, for future referrence: When talking about yourself, you would use "was" for an entirely completed state of being. Like: I was in the town. You would use "were" for an "if" statement.)

Maybe:

"If I were to be stuck on a deserted island, I would bring computer connected to the internet. It would allow me to learn how to make a boat, fish for food, build a shelter, or even set up a permanent home on the island."

I added "to be" because it sounds less casual. "I would bring a computer with an internet connection" seems to run on too much for me. Again, "I could find out" sounds too casual, and I find "find" to be a very vague word in this situation (lol irony). I've also always thought that "could" carries the connotation of being past tense, already happened, "would" might be better. And the second part of that sentence kind of made me kind of cringe, no offense. The verb "fish" in between "make a boat" and "make a shelter" interrupts the flow of the sentence, so I added "for food" to make them all three syllables. Also, I don't like using two of the same verbs near each other like that, so I changed the second "make" to "build", more fitting for the word "shelter". Finally, I just don't like the phrase "long term" with "home on the island", so I changed it to "permanent".

(I kind of copy pasted and moved my explanation around so it sounds bad)

I'm in AP English too!

But Snarf hasn't edited the first post for a while, despite my sending him a PM a few days back.

So, perhaps we should create a list of the people (Or subjects) to be added to the list so he can go about updating the first post easier?

I quoted his first post and am in the process of adding several names that haven't been put on. Also, fixing one or two spelling errors.

Maybe I'll PM him again just to see if he checks it later.

A thought occurs, perhaps he wasn't able to get my PM because his inbox was full? Maybe that's why he hasn't been able to update, but I will try again regardless.

Okay, so I have to write a Battle Rap for class. Yeah, I'm actually being graded on a battle rap. I have to rap from the perspective of Machiavelli and call out Benjamin Franklin.

Help? I have no idea what their views are or where they differ.

And, Ame, I don't think anyone needs Russian either, but some schools have other languages available, and besides, someone might just really want to learn the language. Also, I put you up where the rest of the Spanish speakers are, because most people will be looking in that area for help.
