Well, what about barefoot characters like Bowser, DK, and Diddy?

IT'S NOT SUPPOSED TO BE QUESTIONED SHUT UP AND PLAY.

Yes, so that discounts the boots theory...

I think it's obvious that they're really only jumping once, but editing the time space continuum to repeat that action a second time in the air.

Remember, kids, science fiction and the Bible don't mix. The Bible and video games don't mix. Science fiction and video games is the only acceptable combination. In conclusion, only you can fight forest fires!

Simple; their leg strength is so immense that, by molding their shoes/feet/whatever they're using to double jump in a specific shape, they can mold the air under it and get enough solidity to lift their own weight simply by using their leg strength. However, they need to get their feet to a "natural state" that can be done by landing on truly solid ground or grabbing a ledge (since grabbing ledges solves every single problem in life), otherwise any attempt at jumping again will need them to bend their feet/whatever in such a way that will make it impossible to mold them again, and it's that very "molding" action that allows the double jump. Trust me, it ain't pretty.

Basically, they force the particles in the air to condense together close enough (the void between them being pushed around, hence why there are "rings" around double jumps) that they can jump again. But they break their sole if they try again since it's hella specific and NEEDS the feet to be flat. Or flat enough.

You just won the thread. Someone please bring the Nobel Prize in Interwebs so that I or someone worthier of his designation may present it to him.

I'm gonna say it's quantum.

It's always quantum. Don't bother trying to understand it, no one does.

actually, i have proof of their technology. Their boots produce sulfur hexafluoride.

it really isnt hard. they cant go more than once without an upgraded manufacturing capacity. it takes till they hit the ground to produce enough to double jump again.

srsly, everyone knows this
Holy shit, tha stuff's awesome.

You didn't get that one until way later in the game, and anyway it sorta made sense because of the scientific technology blah blah

Sooo... If Ganondorf can double jump, then why can't he run properly (he friggin' JOGS) if he has immense leg power? It's not like he's jumpin' all over the place. Lucario I'm not so worried about, seeing as he needs to conserve his "life energy." And Kirby doesn't need mid-air jumping transplants. Nor does anyone with wings or existence as a giant ball of something need them. :awesome:

Or maybe they're all trained in telekinesis enough to turn the air into a solid lump of oxygen for a split second! 8)

They can do space/time HTML editing in mid-air that quickly? Eh, I guess they could be trained in that too. :D Heh, I bet that's what they do when no one's playing them.

The part where it works every single time.

Also Einstein says God doesn't play dice with the universe so there.
