If it is, I don't seem to have any trouble with hotlinking... why do you guys have trouble with it?

I don't.

Hotlinking is linking to images on a normal website. The image posted here is using the bandwidth of that original website. Sometimes, it won't work, because either that website disallows hotlinking or the bandwidth is too strained through all the people hotlinking the image.

That's why websitesl ike photoshop and imageshack exist, for people to people to upload images and link to them from websites, which will work because those websites are made specifically for that purpose.

Yeah, basically, imagine spending your cheddar to post your artwork online. An art thief comes along without saving the picture to their own computer and hosting it themselves, and, not only do they steal your artwork, but they're taking cheddar away from you by using the bandwidth YOU paid for to host the exact same image.

It's like that, but maybe not as rage-inducing as art theft because usually it's just image macros and joke pictures that are stolen and rehashed again and again. Imagine all that bandwidth being strained...

That's why I always save (if possible) and host images myself if I wanna post them, unless it's a forum and I'm just quoting someone or something.

I just get annoyed of it because no one's picture ever seems to work when they hotlink.

Now I know!

And knowing is half the battle!
