Man, it took a LOT of work to be able to make this episode! Seriously! It's downright ridiculous!'
For example...
You might notice a sprite change!
Yeah, see, Platinum uses different programming for the Pal Park than Diamond or Pearl did. And to date, that hasn't been reverse-engineered yet. So the only way I can use PalPark is by actually making a savefile in Diamond and playing from that!
Which is also why Oak is still here, if you haven't noticed!
...or, at least, that's what I'd like to say. But in Diamond, he still walks off outside the first time you come in. All I did was walk out and straight back in again and SUDDENLY, OAK!
Maybe it's an impostor Oak... it would be nice to force McPants to re-draw his cads!
YES! YOU MAY ALL WATCH IN AWE AS... I THROW A BALL AT A WILD ANIMAL!
Truly, this is the greatest entertainment ever!
Oh yeah, explanation: in the Pal Park, the six Pokemon are divided into five different areas, depending on their habitat type: Field, Forest, Sea, Mountain, and Lake. The challenge is timed, which is where one third of the score comes from, another 1/3 comes from the rarity of the Pokemon, and the last third comes from... type...? Yeah, I really don't know what the heck that accounts for!
Also,
The Pokemon REALLY love jumping out at you! Like, after just three steps!
Any similarities between real or fictional characters is entirely coincidental. And are totally not in any way related to
this LetsPlay! I swear on my mother's grave!
The fact that my mother is still alive is also completely unrelated to that promise. Totally!
Oh gee, amn't I just
spoiled for choice?!
Oh yeah, Park Balls? Well, they're like... no, they
are flipping Master Balls!
Oh, except they don't override the Pokemon's previous ball type. So a Pokemon caught with a great ball in Emerald will still be in a great ball even after going through Pal Park.
As with it's level, it's moves go up too! This is what a Mightyena might look like if anyone had actually ever bothered to get one to level 50.
Which is a shame, since Mightyena is actually one of my favourite Pokemon.
1 down, 5 to go. And this one's out at sea!
Oh yeah, I didn't actually consult with SupMar566 about the Pokemon names, or movesets either, I just predicted what good nicknames would be for them if they evolved, and what movesets they'd likely have at level 50.
Which they probably never will, because they SUCK HORRIBLY! So I consider it a free ace!
I also can't help but laugh at saying "come back"! Y'know, as if I AM AAAAAA!
...CONSPIRACY THEORIES!
Oh, one thing I didn't actually know when making this episode was that PalPark Pokemon aren't meant to be able to have HM moves. They have to be deleted by the Move Deleter if you want to transfer them.
...
Well you know that, and I know that, but do the
Pokemon know that?
Oh yeah, the majority of Pokemon here are always in the Park. Which is great for finding them!
...what, he didn't evolve out and rename all of them! Some... some just weren't loved enough...
What a cruel cruel world we live in...
Welp, to the PC with him!
He's like a miniature Snorlax!
...what a cruel an unusual name!
Yeah, sorry, I just couldn't resist the pun!
Oh yeah, and just to point out, this is what came of the female ZigDog. SupMar, in his infinite wisdom, decided it would be brilliant for diversity to not only catch two of the same Pokemon, but to give them the exact came nickname too!
Poodline is, in every meaning of the phrase, a Badass Normal!
Two more left now, and they're both in the same place.
...I hate the forest!
AAAH! THAT MOTH IS... actually pretty reasonably sized, compared to the flipping Crobats!
...why did AAAAAA even have this Pokemon anyway?! It sucks horribly!
...
...
...
I hate the way the last Pokemon to be caught ALWAYS takes ages to appear! Ugh!
THERE we go!
...
Treehugger? He named his Pokemon
Treehugger?! Oh... oh god, even his Pokemon are sick!
AHAHAH! HE'S MINE NOW, Y'HEAR?! LET'S SEE YOU SUCK FACES
NOW!
Oh yeah, wondering about Frenzy Plant? Well, Sceptile does actually learn it... in Generation 4! But c'mon, I just couldn't resist giving it to him here! He really does need it!
That... was... somehow disappointing. When they said it was just a catching show, they really weren't kidding!
All important! In fact, it's so important, that we'll never ever mention it in this game again!
Oh GOD AAAAAA, your Pokemon really DO suck!
...seriously. I will never understand how the type category is meant to be calculated!
OH WOW, A CHESTO BERRY! IT... IS INCREDIBLY COMMON AND CAN ONLY WAKE SLEEPING POKEMON! MAN, WHAT A BRILLIANT PRIZE!
...yeah,
all the prizes for the PalPark 'competition' are berries. What a buncha cheapskates!
So... umm... I... should probably go back and find Oak? When an important NPC ever mentions a location, even in a passing conversation, it means you should probably go there for something good!
Y'know, I'd wager a bet that this little Staravia has been in my party longer than Rotom has, because he keeps being the one I switch out when I need a HM slave. And Rotom's meant to be my main Pokemon!
Ohh mysterious house, what wonders will you hold inside? Perhaps you'll be empty? Perhaps there'll be friendly people inside who greet every trespasser. Or perhaps the people in here will actually be mean and want me out... NAAAH, that never happens!
WHATER SURPRISE, IT'S OAK!
Wait, so you need the whole PalPark event to even
communicate with people in Kanto normally... but you just 'get' something in the five minutes that I was off catching Pokemon?!
Wooti- wait, no, I already got an Up-Grade. Like, back when I had recently got Rotom!
Oh, how nice. This NPC actually tells me when he talks about something else. Y'know, unlike everyone else, who don't seem to grasp that "Shorts are comfy" and "I can break bricks with my forehead" shouldn't be said in one go!
What? I already have a little girl that tells me what rare Pokemon are around. I don't need an old man to do it as well!
Oh hey... wait...
GODDAMNIT, SOMEONE LET THEM OF THE PC! Bill is in sooo much trouble when I get back!
Yes. Such as how Bill is SUCH A FLIPPING BASTARD!
RARE AND BEAUTIFUL DO NOT BELONG IN THE WILD! THEY BELONG IN MY FUCKING COLLECTION!
Oh geez, my Poketch is getting REALLY flipping cramped now!
...
Fine, I'll go catch some of these li'l buggers already! Ugh!
