I got to the end of Dragon Age but didn't beat the end boss because all my good characters died/left me...

All I had left was my dog, Alitsar, and a dwarf....

Does Sora remember the events of Chain of Memories? Or did Namine write those memories out before KH2?

No, they don't remember. Namine has to erase their memories of Castle Oblivion to give them back their prior memories.

Pretty much, yeah. I really enjoyed the first one, but the second one wasn't nearly as good in my opinion. But at least they didn't go with Sora's original design:
