I thought this was pretty impressive, so I'm giving it its own thread.
Meet the Akinator. Basically, you think of a random character, real or not, he will ask you a few questions and guess it. Very likely right.
I've been playing around with this for a while now, and these he got right:

The few he didn't guess correctly were:

Nanny Ogg (Discworld). He thought of Esme Weatherwax, which still is pretty close.
Katie. He thought of the Nostalgia Chick.
Metal Man (Mega Man). He guessed Quick Man.
Red Mage (Final Fantasy / 8-Bit Theater). He guessed Sheik.


I know this site has been around for a while, but I used the search and there's not even one post about it here.

I've fooled him a few times. He's pretty good fun.

He guessed a Telletubbie when I was thinking of Winnie the Pooh.

Amy Rose= Dr. Girlfriend apparently.

Thought of Link when I was thinking of Marth.

He guessed Pedobear and Ash Ketchum right.

He actually guessed "someone who answered randomly" right.

I'm suprised I got "your original character". This thing is smart.

Professor Layton = 18 guesses

I'm tripping balls here. Naw, but I'm am fairly impressed. Bah, let me think of something much more obscure.

I suspect if he fails to guess your character, that more likely than note you answered one of the questions wrong. I had to pause when he asked if my person had black hair, cause Layton's hair is mostly under his hat.

Okay I just did The Noid, and it got it on the last question.

I'm officially impressed. This is definitely the most accurate "20 questions" program I've ever played with.

Why so grumpy?

Now that I'm playing it more seriously and thinking of less obscure characters (Kenshiro, Edward Elric, Van Hohenheim), it's getting better.

Finally managed to beat it. Though I think I might have goofed up while confusing the real life person with the character. Used my favorite professional wrestling character, The Hurricane.

Then I tried again being more careful to separate The Hurricane from Gregory Helms... And what the hell? I thought it was going to get it for certain when it asked "Is he in the WWE?" very early on, and started asking if the person was a superhero, if they were associated with the color green, if he wore a mask, and if his name is shared with a movie title. But then he went off on a tangent and ended up guessing "The Mask"

WHAT? FAIL! NO! YOU SUCK! THE MASK IS NOT A MEMBER OF THE WWE!

He also fails at getting Katie Tiedrich. He once asked me "Is your character a porn star?" I giggled a little at the thought.

*cough* Sorry to inform you, but Rule 34 never fails. Not even on Katie Tiedrich.
