Also, saying it now: The Star Wars prequels were as good as the originals. You just didn't realise the originals were pretty sucky at the time.
No. Fuck off. I have rewatched the original trilogy several times, and I can say without a doubt that they are infinitely better than ALL of the prequels.
Episode 1: Let's dumb this shit down and make it a kid's movie! OH! Also midichlorians! Don't mind me, I'll just be over here taking a giant shit all over the established canon!
Episode 2: LOVE LOVE LOVEY LOVE LOVE! Who the fuck watches Star Wars for romance stories? About all the romance we got in the originals was Han/Leia, and that was kept to a bare minimum.
Episode 3: CRAAAAAAAAAWLIIIIIIIIIIING IIIIIIIIIIN MY SKIIIIIIIIIIIIIN! Jesus fucking Christ they made Anakin EMO! He's supposed to turn to the dark side, but out of ANGER, not BAAAAWWWWWW! The ending was incredibly rushed, and the way it was written will ruin the films for future generations who try and watch the series in chronological order. Also, after kicking booty and taking names in the Clone Wars cartoon, suddenly General Grievous is a total pussy, apparently.
You also seem to be assuming that everyone here watched the original movies as a kid, and is looking back with nostalgia goggles. You neglect the fact that even adults, who saw the originals as adults and the prequels as adults, still prefer the originals. The story was more coherent, the acting was better, they kept a consistent style throughout all three movies, and the characters were far more likable.
Care to give me even ONE aspect in which the prequels surpassed the originals?
