Yeah... unfortunately I can't just sit there and do nothing like I did in high school.

HOW MUCH ATP IS FORMED DURING BETA OXIDATION?!

"Uh... uh... shit."

I guess it also depends on what your major is. For my biology classes, it's a lot of reading. But for Chemistry it's lots and lots of homework. :psyduck:

On the ATP note... I never really enjoyed the chemistry side of biology. Trying to predict the outcome of an experiment using mathematics kinda takes the fun out of it.

I enjoyed the cell mechanism part of biology the most - how the different parts of a cell work and how they evolved, as well as how cell structure differs based on a cell's function.

Yeah, it's more interesting since I have an awesome professor, though. We have to calculate the amount of ATP formed from different substances during different phases of cellular respiration/photosynthesis. Assuming that the fatty acid going through beta oxidation has two carbons, you'll get 16 ATP by the end of it. It's more productive than just using Glucose, but it's not a good thing since you're basically feeding yourself to your Mitcochondria... >.>

ANYWAYS! Regurgitating information also seems to help cement it in my mind. And I agree, but you've gotta know the basics to know the mechanisms (unfortunately... nah, I kid. Kinda.)!

I don't take notes, or study. I just learn it.

Although it generally helps that my course is entirely made out of Science and Engineering, and that I'm an ace at logics!

I do about 5 minutes worth of work with about 2 hours worth of dicking around. :T

Yeah, I find the evolution of the endosymbiotic relationship we have with our mitochondria to be pretty amazing too.

HIGH FIVE SOMEBODY HAVING SOME UNDERSTANDING OF BIOLOGY!

It's been a while since I studied biology though, and I didn't take it any further than college (I decided to go for art/design rather than science when I went to university).

I just remember the bits which were quite interesting.

I'll let you get back to discussing how to study now though. I'm just being an unnecessary distraction at the moment.

I'm what you'd call a "studybug." Actually though, I've found college studying is actually way easier considering every course gives you a syllabus and you can PLAN MONTHS AHEAD LIKE I DO. For my lecture-heavy classes like Biology and Politics, I just go over all of my written notes again. If it's shit that I typed, I copypaste everything to a new document, delete key words, print it out and fill it back in. I also look back over every power point that's been in the lecture.

For Speech class...Yeah, I did drama for like eight years so I can just memorize anything. Like, if I have 10 extra hours to do something, I will study that entire time. Calculus is just sort of crap because it's hard to study for problems. I just do problems that I think might sort of look like what's going to be on the test. I also sacrifice a lamb to the Gods of knowledge the night prior.

Holy fuck I need a life.

It's also interesting because they found that all living humans most common ancestors lived about 200,000 years ago. All thanks to Mitochondria! Although for some reason they refer to a familial group of women as a singular Mitochondrial Eve... It bothers me.

Anyways! Studying!

Hey, better than being the complete opposite! I just don't feel right sitting around and doing nothing.

I haven't studied in years, I guess I'll have to start again eventually. It just was sort of unnecessary in high school, I got straight As anyways.

I guess I'll just take notes and re-read them once or twice.

Huh. It appears that I'm the only person here who enjoys Chemistry.

It's not bad, but once you get to college it's so time consuming.

If you listen real hard in class, you don't have to study! :eng101:

I'll try that when I learn to convert frequency to wavelength in my head. :psyduck:

I might skim over my notes before a test, but otherwise I don't study. I pay attention in class. It's always worked out pretty well for me.
