On that note, where do ditto come from? We know they can't mate amongst themselves. Does a ditto mate with another Cockfighting Society, and then when that mon grows up a ditto bursts out of their chest?
Dittos are failed genetic experiments at cloning Mew. They have the same weight, colour and shiny colour as Mew, and like Mew they have the signature move Transform. Also like Mew they contain the genes of every Cockfighting Society species (which is presumably what allows them to breed with anything). You can find them in the original game in the basement of Cinnabar lab, where the Mew cloning experiments were first carried out, and at higher levels in Cerulean Cave, where the strongest result of the Mew cloning process, Mewtwo, is also sealed away.
