For Comic Con, Warner Bros cut together a generic-booty superhero movie trailer for Justice League. I have hopes that the film will be good but given DC's recent track record (one good film, Wonder Woman) I don't have MUCH hope, but there is always a chance that they put together the generic-booty trailer since its guaranteed to make sweaty nerds cheer en masse in a convention center.

If the trailer is actually their best offering then wowie sure is A Bunch of Superheros VS A Generic CGI Army of Aliens and/or Demons, exactly like Avengers, Suicide Squad, and hell even 2016 Ghostbusters.
I bet there will be a massive dangerous skyhole/laser in the climax of the film, because Hollywood hasn't made any real new superhero blockbuster films in ages

this also appears to be a tragedy, but Willem Dafoe is perfect casting for Ryuk

that fucking superman-flying, Mary Poppins-booty scene with Leia. in fact, the entire opening hour is atrocious. the rest of the movie is good, which balances out to 'alright'.

I had more issues with the ending. All three or four of them. But ultimately I'm satisfied.

Also if that's really the last we see of Snoke, ahahahAHAHAHAHAHA

Oh yeah, the ending itself wasn't fantastic, and the entire Harry Potter casino set piece planet can fuck off, but the middle of the film is generally good.

Like how in the last one when the 'entire star stuffed into a planet that is falling apart fails to explode in any way and just kind of fizzles out in a way that makes no sense narratively, scientifically or as entertainment' completely fridge logic'd me hardcore right in the moment, as soon as the lady who was already flying an empty cruiser by herself on a mission that was both a suicide run and going to lose the ship anyways starts prepping for lightspeed and turning it around, I was like IF THIS WAS SOMETHING THAT YOU CAN DO WHY WAS THIS NOT SOMETHING YOU DID AS SOON AS THEY COULDN'T GET BACK TO YOU IN TIME AND THEY WERE BEING SHOT DOWN?!? Plus the whole infuriating aspect of the fact that if not for keeping the cocky hothead who you should have no reason to suspect of being a mole in the dark about your plan (what, as some sort of bullshit life lesson test of character thing?) your plan would have gone off perfectly, and instead was so thoroughly compromised that bodaciously everything that finn and rose did was a total waste of time and lives? I mean, if she'd just told him what the plan was and to keep it to himself because she suspected someone might be acting as a traitor, when the two of them came to him with their sudden technobabble explanation of why they were being tracked, he could have 1. told them what the plan was and then 2. told her how they were being tracked to help ensure that they could slip away undetected. The first order wouldn't have known to scan for hidden getaway ships if not for the s-s-stuttering hacker guy leaking the information. The only purpose aaaaall of that served was to lose 2/3rds or so of the remaining survivors, Finn to become committed to the rebel cause and Luke sacrificing himself early. Everything with Ray and Kylo and Snoke would have happened the same. Hell, they could have even taken out the super-dreadnaught and star destroyers the exact same way but on purpose this time if they thought to do so. They bodaciously couldn't have stopped them from doing it, either, the carrier's shields were strong enough that the dreadnaught et all couldn't take it out until it was completely run down.

Aaaaaaall of that said, however, I still enjoyed the movie overall, I guess, it's just like the previous first one, there's plot holes you can drive a truck through.

My favorite part about it being a Star Wars film is that almost every plothole can be filled, or at least crudely patched, with "The Force did it." All that bullshit with the casino planet seems like it was completely pointless after Finn and Rose end up caught anyway, but here's a few things: 1) In reality, plans fail. In a narrative it might seem like a waste of time, but it offers a dose of realism to the usual "heroes do thing and eventually succeed" situation, 2) It offered backstory and blah blah blah for Finn's new love interest(?) which if I'm honest I could give two shits about but there it is, 3) It introduced Benicio Del Toro's character who I thought was a great addition to this expanding cast of characters who live in the gray between this big galactic conflict, and his presence illuminated that third faction further when he revealed that those rich people got rich selling to both sides and I had more on this but I have to go back to work so maybe I'll come back to this later.

I don't think my immersion in a film has ever been broken as abruptly as by that Leia scene. I felt like there was some good potential in the movie despite being generic Disney action flick #13 and there were some good scenes as well (I liked the opening sequence despite being another grating incompetent Imperials scene), but it was ruined by some truly awful scenes and narrative decisions.
