First thing I see today upon getting online is someone wishing death on people in Texas and delighting at the panic during the hurricane because everyone here is apparently irredeemably evil and deserves it.

Good start. Surprised there hasn't been a "God is mad because there is a pride parade this weekend" post though.

Last friday I spent the evening with wonderful people who made me feel valued and accepted for who I am and it was fun and friendly for everyone involved.
Tonight I was dragged (and forced to drive for three other people) to an awkward after-hours work-thing dinner and they all kept bugging me and mocking me because I don't drink alcohol and don't do drugs and don't smoke cigars (???) and trying to make me conform.
Yea thanks I didn't need to feel good anyway

edit: To clarify, most of the people from Friday were drinking and talking about alcohol they like and stuff and it was not a problem. They know I don't drink and not once in the 4+ years I've known them have they given me the slightest bit of shit for it nor have they tried to square-shame me into joining them.

I used to have "friends" like that. I told them over and over that I didn't mind that they drink and smoke weed, but that I want nothing to do with it. Yet, every time I went to hang out with them they would try to pressure me into trying it and once locked me in a car with them while they hotboxxed it with weed smoke. I stopped hanging out with them after that.

Things that piss me off: I've applied to every sort of help desk related job I can find in my state on the internet and haven't gotten so much as an email back from any of them. I feel like applying through public websites is a waste of time and I'm going to start just cold emailing local companies and asking if they have any positions open. Job searching sucks.

Contact people you know, if you can. I'm convinced that landing a job is like 75% networking these days.

Look into IT contractors in your area, for IT help desk work. I got a job doing tech support for government defense contractors at a facility in Dallas by going through an entirely unrelated company that solely handles tech contractors.

That's a good idea. A lot of people that work for the local ISP do their grocery shopping where I work and I'm on friendly terms with them so I'll ask them.

I can't seem to find any contractors in Kentucky or that would be great.

People around here are freaking out about Irma because of Harvey. My landlord wants to board up our windows tonight. People are lining up at gas stations already. And now I'm gonna have to be one of those crazy assholes because the gas might run out purely from everyone rushing to get it now.

The fucking storm is a week away, if it even swings this wide out to begin with.

Someone in a Discord server managed to make me unearth my experience back in 7th grade science involving another student, name Tristen.

I proceeded to beat the everloving crap out of everyone who had nicknamed themselves after said student in a bit of pure rage in the respective roleplay channel.

We settled things. I feel lots better now.

Okay, so this is hella late, and you've probably already looked up a bunch of tutorials at this point, or have already called someone to help you out, but in the unlikely event you are still waiting for someone to help you and want words of encouragement:

You got this. It happens to everyone at some point or another.
As long as you have a spare and a jack, a few tutorials on youtube should get you ready to swap it out next time it happens. If you don't have a spare tire/jack yet, remember to save up for one just in case it happens again!

Remember that everyone has some aspect of their daily life that they aren't familiar with the mechanics of, these days. Yours happens to be your car, a lot of other people's is their computer, others still, it's their food.
