i somehow got this idea immediately when i looked at the comic and since i'm bored as hell because my gaming computer's fucked i decided to do it

Breath of the Wild departs from gameplay traditions established in all other Zelda games, so it wouldn't really matter if you played a previous one. Cooking was never a thing before.

The game doesn't specify what kind of meat you have (beef, venison, wild wolves) and just categorizes it based on quality. Unless it's poultry.
But yes, that's pretty much how things work, in that edit.
