For those who don't get it,

Midway through MGSV, Huey Emmerich AKA Otacon's Dad/the designer of Sahelanthropus was banished from Mother Base by "Big Boss" after Kaz and Ocelot proved Huey to be a traitor and a murderer, more or less. To "Big Boss's" mercy he sends off Emmerich on a raft with plenty of food and water, much to the Base's disappointment. This brings us to a few years later where "Big Boss" and Ocelot retreat to Outer Heaven, keeping Gray Fox captive while producing a new Metal Gear, which in comparison looks like a Kids' Meal toy and can easily be decimated with a couple of C-4s.

But what did you expect from the VERY FIRST Metal Gear game?

Wait a minute, Big Boss still has his horn. Is this an intentional step to avoid spoilers or... has Katie don't finished the Truth mission in MGSV yet?

Major, MAJOR plot spoilers for MGSV: The Big Boss we see in MG1 is retroactively revealed to be the body double that the player controlled in MSGV, hence why he'd still have the horn and prosthetic arm when the later Big Boss in MG2 didn't.

Actually she's right.

This is actually the same Big Boss in Metal Gear NES. He's the one who gets killed off in that game while Naked Snake is the reason why "Big Boss is still alive" by Metal Gear 2.

Which still leaves open the question of What the hell happened to Sahalthropus....salathropusus...sahulap...The big Metal Gear after Liquid jacks it, what happened to Liquid and to some extent, Solid and Solidus between this game and Metal Gear 1, how clearly this game sets up the Snake Brothers up as bring natural children of Big Boss rather than clones or even born by surrogate children of Big Boss, and where Big Boss was when he picked up Frank Jager and Naomi because *they really should have included that*

Thank you so much for including Metal Gear Raxa. In my heart of hearts, MGS:Poop (POrtable OPs) is canon.
There are stranger things that I want to believe is canon, like the Kojima X Capcom crossover they did when Snake meets Trenya in Peacewalker, allowing him to fight Rathalos and Tigrex from the Monster Hunter Series. Hell, that encounter made me get into that series all together. I'm still trying to unlock the Naked Snake Battle Armor in Monster Hunter Portable 3rd.

My best guess is that with whatever's left of Salamipussy that Kid Liquid stole became Metal Gear REX in MGS, considering the cockpits and "grounded" forms are similar. For some reason though it took apparently over a decade to rebuild.

So, lets break this down. We have:
Superior Soviet Slug.
A Mars lander (launch rocket may not be available in all areas)
"A remarkable double-biped!"
Operation: Salvage Operation: Peace Walker
"Hiegh Giyghs!" (Hi Steve...)

And yet somehow, the last one is supposed to tie in with Mr. Piddleplod at the bottom.

Seriously. The last model was the only one that's fiscally responsible and worth something in the battlefield.
All the others are either expensive missile add-ons or huge targets for fighter aircrafts.

Man, that fits so well with how old the two look.
Like, contrast the mental images of the young versions jumping around on the overly-elaborate versions, with that of the old ones standing by as row upon row of uniform AT-Tanks march by.
They, and the world, got old, is what happened.
