AWKWARD ZOMBIE

The hamburger grinder at work stopped working today. My manager said something along the lines of "Well, you were the last person to use it." So I told her if she's accusing me of breaking it then I'm just going to leave. She told me to go. So I got off work an hour early today. I know my actual boss won't be too upset because he knows it's been tearing up for a while now. Still though, being accused of breaking it is making me want to just quit. It's a shitty job anyway.

I just lost my earbuds.

I'm fine. I'm fine.

I'm totally fine with losing my last good pair that functioned in both ears.

(Not fine. Even though they cost about $12, I need them for "my mornings".)

I can't stand earbuds, so I switched to over-ear headphones and never looked back. The only times I've "lost" them is when a cat ate through the cables.

I prefer ear buds because my over ear headphones mess with my hair.

If you were a protagonist like me, you wouldn't have that problem.

(Actually, the dryer started clinking, like there was change inside, after I was done posting. Apparently, that's where they were. Crisis adverted!)

Not the first time something like that has happened to me.

The fact that I can't get any sort of essay done these days upsets me. I want to get it done, but my brain is like, "No, fuck you! We are going to bullshit the fact you don't have anything done by saying that you have two paragraphs done!"

Why did you expect sleeping medicine to wake you up earlier

I'm just going out on a limb here, but I assume you drink a lot of caffeinated drinks. Cut back on those and you should sleep a lot better without needing sleep medication for it. Half the time I don't even need an alarm clock anymore because I just wake up naturally.

The best way to sleep really depends a lot on the person. Some folks just have weird circadian rhythms. I've tried a lot of different things and it honestly feels like my "natural" sleep cycle is stuck at like 10 hours of sleep a day. I'm trying to slowly adjust to going to bed earlier. And I've personally tried dropping caffeine entirely, but with my ADD I have zero useful brain power without it. I do limit it to the mornings/early afternoons though. Caffeine after like 6pm will keep me up even when it doesn't give me any "energy"

You could also try melatonin instead of Zzquil, I feel like actual sleep medicines knock me way out for like, 12 hours. Melatonin is a lot gentler and doesn't have any weird grogginess, in my experience.

I notice melatonin doesn't create diminishing returns, either, at least not for me. Same dose every night, no issue.

melatonin makes me extremely groggy in the mornings....but i sleep. so i still have a bottle for bad insomnia nights. i agree though that it's what i would go with first since there's less side effects and it doesn't seem to knock you out quite like medication does. apparently chamomile tea is supposed to help you sleep too. i find it somewhat helps me fall asleep but it doesn't do much to keep me asleep. i don't often just wake up in the middle of the night though, so most of the time if i drink some tea before bed (i can always like...tell...when it's gonna be a bad insomnia night,) i can actually fall asleep. the melatonin is for 'i've been laying here for 3 hours and i just NEED SOMETHING' nights because it makes it hard for me to wake up.

Waking up in the middle of the night is my problem. I can fall asleep easy and wake up without too much fuss, but I can't remember the last time I've slept without waking up at least once. Doesn't take me too long to fall back to sleep though, so I guess it's not a huge deal.
