There was this old cheat way back when that said if you breeded your Red Gyarados with a normal Gyarados, you'd get a golden Magikarp that would evolve into Golden Gyarados.

IT DIDN'T WORK ;---;

I stumbled across the theme song for Arceaus for the first time...

JEEZE THAT IS DISSONANT! I can't figure out if that is actually more awesome than the original Lavender Town theme... or just plain horrifying.

I thought that there was a really easy way to catch a shiny Gyradoes in Gen 2 games, so a shiny Gyradoes was common.

I guess I'm wrong, though.

Yes there is. You throw a Pokeball at it. There's a mandatory encounter with one in every game!

The first part was sorta true, in that, in gen2, breeding a shiny Pokemon gives an increased chance of the offspring being shiny (up to 1/64, in ideal situations). The offspring, if shiny, would be a golden Magikarp. But the Golden Gyarados thing was complete nonsense.

Also, it stopped being so that breeding shinies result in shinies. The only trick now is the Masuda Method.

Oh, but there was a genuine trick for getting a blue Ditto (and I mean a 100% rate), if you could trade between a first-gen and a second-gen game!

Wow, Arceus's theme has a lot of long periods of silence. I don't think I've ever heard a theme anything like that.

"Magikarp, use Hyper Beam! What the fuck do you mean you don't have Hyper Bea-- oh just use Splash Attack."

I really shouldn't like this so much.

Struggle would kill one of em
The only way to have a battle that can last forever is to pit 2 dittos against eachother

Nope. One will eventually use Struggle.

However, if there was a battle between two trainers with only ditto, THEN it would be impossible to end the battle! It's likely why there's no in-game trainers with Ditto anymore!

Edit: Kale beat me! Goddam!

Why couldn't you end a battle with only two Ditto?
I'm not saying you guys are wrong, I just never really used Ditto so I'm not sure how exactly Transform works in cases like this.
Oh, and technically the same goes for two Mew who can only use Transform, right?

Even dittos would eventually struggle I think?

Another one that used to be more legit was two wobbuffets. When they gave Wobbuffet it's ability that prevents switching out in Gen 3, they didn't include a clause that let Wobbuffet switch out of it's own ability.

The result? Two Wobbuffets staring at each other for around 60 turns before they started struggling. But, that isn't all. The single most common hold item for a Wobbuffet is a Leftovers...

Smell the problem? A Wobbuffet isn't strong enough to outdamage leftovers with struggle. That means, that in Gen 3, if a Wobbuffet and another Wobbuffet wound up in a battle, it would bodaciously be impossible to win the fight, regardless of the other Pokemon on your team.

Cue Wobbuffet's ability getting nerfed in Gen 4.
