I thought I saw something about it being a touchscreen screen. I wouldn't be surprised, which if true would make it basically a high-powered gaming tablet with attachable/detachable analogue controllers.

How would that work? Games wouldn't be able to rely on it because you can't use it if you switch it into console mode.

True. Probably just wishful thinking, though without that it's easier to believe that it'll be closer to the $300 end of the scale.

Call it a hunch. But I think Im gonna call bullshit on the clarity of those pictures. A handheld is not capable of that. Although my biggest pronlem si why theyr emakretign that as a console when obviously its a handheld :/ Are they just merging both into one package at this point? itd make sense form a cheddar standpoint, because then I dont need ot spend for two things, just one, which makes the apparent price of 350 sound somewhat more reasonable.

Dzelda, are-are you alright?

My fingers occasionally have seizures.

If you see anyof them walking by a thread, do let me know. Ive been searching for a few for awhile.

Also, a question comes ot mind: Will this be backwards compatible with the Wii U?

Well, it doesn't seem to be able to use the physical game discs. But it's possible it could still run digital copies from the online store.

I would assume that downloads are what the main draw will be. I am excited to buy those binder things that hold cartidges for my games again though.

Soo, whats keeping me from playing my PC instead then?

If its just going to essentially be a touchscreen PC made by Nintendo for 350 dollars, why not instead just go all out and buy a computer with better specs for twice the price? Or even better yet, have Nintendo try their hand at an OS :P Knowing their history with innovation, they probably COULD give other systems a run for their cheddar down that alleyway :P

Same thing as the previous generations. Nintendo games.

I can play Nintendo games on my computer too :/ Just give it a few years.

The difference between their digital copies, and my digital copies though being, whereas on their games I dont have to check for problem malware and checksum issues, I dont have to pay for mine. :/ (Emulation is legal if you own the discs :P )

I never really understood why people should pay out the nose for digital copies. Theres no real physical material being bought up, no stores being paid distribution fees. Theyre just copies, quite easily locked down, that only last as long as your account integrity or their business does :/

At least with a physical disc it doesnt matter how long ago you bought it, if you take good care of it, you can still plug in your Nintendo and play the discs. I still have some original copies of some of Nintendos greatest games that run at 100% that I bought way back then. :/

*reads down* Oh, they use cartridges again? o.o

It won't be as accurate more than likely though. Hell, the N64 emulators still have a lot of accuracy issues. Plus online play is generally a hassle when using an emulator. I'll admit Dolphin does pretty well at everything, but it still doesn't beat playing things on the native console.

I'm just glad Nintendo is going for the portability factor, which is a niche the PC doesn't really compete with. It's nice to see a console actually trying to be a console and set itself apart, unlike Xbox and PS which are just subpar PCs that make you pay to go online.

Granted Nintendo's been doing that for a while. I'm hoping the game library will be there to back it up this time.

Yeah, Nintendo is the only console that I and a handful of my friends really find worth having since PCs are just a better alternative to consoles in general, especially when it comes to exclusives. I personally never hear anything about Sony exclusives other than people going crazy for God of War, which is something I never cared for, and Xbox gets... Shooting games. Lots and lots of shooting games. And now they're setting up Windows 10 to take on new Xbox titles, making even less reason to get their system over a PC.

After not having a console since 2008 (aside from my brother having Microsoft's Red Ring Machine for two years), I'm really looking to get the Switch when it's released.

Just watched the presentation.

There are buttons. Sticks. Motion Controls. HD Rumble. Touchscreen.

There's going to be a Fire Emblem Warriors, Splatoon gets a sequel, a game where everyone gets stretchy arms and punches other people with stretchy arms in a game called ARMS, and we're getting Super Mario Bros. the Movie: the Game.

Also, paid online play.
