Here employers are legally obligated to allow their employees to take 4 hours off on election days so they can vote. Is there no such thing in the US?

i don't think so? i've heard lots of people say that the reason they never vote is because they have to work and can't take time off. decent employers will give you the time to get it done but a lot of places apparently like retail and fast food won't, depending on the sm.

this country is a trainwreck, i know

Actually, most states allow you to have at least 2 hours off to vote. Whether or not that time off is paid or not depends on the state. http://www.findlaw.com/voting-rights-law.html

Granted, with a lot of businesses that don't exactly follow the law, and with a lot of employees not knowing their rights, these laws get ignored a lot. It's a real problem where I live (h̶e̶l̶l̶ Kentucky). A lot of the businesses where I live pay overtime off the clock at the regular rate rather than time and a half too. Really pisses me off, but the people who work there never complain. My boss is pretty good about following the law at least.

The vice-district-administrator-in-chief-by-interim-or-whatever is getting out of His ivory tower in the metropolis to grace us lowly peasants with His glorious presence on Friday so we all have to play dress-up that day to not hurt His Bourgoisie by wearing anything less pompous, useless and antiquated than a formal suit and tie as if that's how we dress all the time.

My sister got out of jail last night and visited tonight. I was taking a nap to nurse my headache away and she decides to sit on me to wake me up as a joke and then wouldn't leave my room until I hugged her. Like, my god, I don't like touching people, all I ask is that you respect that.

I'm not in a pop flyin' mood right now.

Spent like an hour trying to mod Oblivion, didn't get very far because I ain't got time to do it the super technical way

I guess I'll go to bed and try again tomorrow, the slightly more user-friendly way.

I like to think I made some progress on the technical bits though, I'm just not even sure if it was necessary/worth the effort lol.

Why does everyone forget about third parties? We don't have to choose between Clinton and Trump, yunno.

yes, we do. we absolutely 100% have to because of the way our voting system is built. there is absolutely no way a third party will ever win, and splitting the vote means trump wins. because the pie chart of votes will look like this:

Image

even though most of this chart is AGAINST trump, he still got the highest percentage of votes, and thus he wins

third party is NEVER an option.

I honestly just don't think I'll vote in this election. I disagree with Trump on nearly everything (plus he's just a shitty person), and I just really do not like Hillary.

I'm not the most knowledgeable about Hillary Clinton so maybe she's done some bad things in the past that I haven't heard about but I don't get how people can not have a preference for her other over Trump. He is bodaciously a fascist egomaniac and is openly very racist and sexist and is supported by actual Nazi groups and the KKK. He gloated about not paying taxes, he's a pathological liar, a fraudster, a terrible boss who disrespects employment laws for his own profit and a disaster of a businessman. He routinely calls for people to hurt or murder those who oppose him. He wants to get rid of people who aren't white and Christian and he idolizes actual dictators.

The only "bad" things I've heard about Hillary Clinton is that she "seems" dishonest or unpleasant or that she's got cooties. So basically, people are unable to decide between the next Mussolini and "a politician" because the latter happens to be a woman.

I am kind of interested to see what happens to the third party vote this year, because there are a decent number of people on both sides that dislike the big candidate.

I personally won't vote third party, but maybe if more people do it'll help pave the way for future third party candidates. Though really the movement for that should start in the primaries, it's too late for third parties to get any significant traction now.

Bug them with more emails. Seriously. One email is easy to forget but when there's a "Hey did you get my previous email?" people will usually be like "ugh FINE" and respond.

As long as it's not 300 emails about the same topic most people don't mind.

What do you mean the best way to write a good drum part is to actually know how to passably play drums?

(guess who's annoying the shit out of her husband once the new drumsticks get here on tuesday, since one of my only pair seems to have vanished in the last several months, and like hell I'm driving any farther into Spokane than I have to, just to pay $10 at a music store for a $6 pair of drumsticks...)
