I wish my parents would stop trying to make me conform to their idiot juice cult. My friends and acquaintances and coworkers to whom the meaning of life is to get drunk at every given opportunity took the hint after asking once and never insisted nor tried to make me feel bad for it. Why can't my parents understand after ten-ish years of me never willingly touching alcohol that I have no interest in it and never will and just leave me alone.

You don't drink? How do you sterilize your insides?

Uhhh, things that piss me off. Screeching. Mispronunciations of the word 'golem'.

Fffshfhfhfg this is the second time I've found a wasp in my bed at an hour they aren't normally awake. Goddammit, I'm already rustled, but if they're getting in through the holes in my drywall that MAINTENANCE HASN'T FUCKING BOTHERED FIXING AFTER THEY MADE THEM, I'm going to be even more rustled. Although I'm also very irate at how slow those repairs are going in general. The guy seems nice enough, but holy shit it's like he forgets that someone actually has to live with the unusable space, and so this should kind of be higher on the priority list than what he seems to have had it for the last four months.

Got woken up at 5:45 AM by the building's resident douchebag turning on his mufflerless douchebagmobile with his unbearably loud douchebag leitmotiv and then I was tired and my eyes were burning and I had a splitting headache all day and still do, thank you dude.

There was another copperhead on my porch tonight. This one and the one last night were both pretty small so I think an adult copperhead has made her nest near our house which means I have to watch my step going outside now.

Pictures for anyone interested. The lighting is bad and the pictures make it look bigger than it was. It was about 2-3 feet long.

We always just took a shovel to any rattlesnakes that were a problem (read: refused to be a safe distance away). Then again, I think ours were only 2-ish feet when they were adults, so that might not be as practical a solution for you. Most of our snakes were bull snakes or garter snakes besides, though, so we generally had less hazard.

it's always a hard decision for me because venomous snakes are so important to the ecosystem but also if they're near my house i Do Not Want and it's not really practical to move them somewhere or call the snake....control people. fortunately i've not found any venomous snakes on my property (just racers and ribbon snakes,) but more than likely i'd have to kill it........but then i'd skin it. at least make some use of its death.

Yea, I actually like snakes too, but I'm not taking any risks with venomous ones near my house. The first one was bodaciously at my front door, and the one last night was at the end of the porch. That's too close for comfort for me.

If it was a garter snake or something, I'd just let it chill.

I'd actually like to have a pet corn snake someday. I think they're a really pretty breed (are different snake types called breeds?).

yeah no i don't blame you lol. i just always have to convince myself its for the greater good every time i have to consider killing one for my safety, haha.

also snakes don't really have breeds, just species and sub-species. so corn snake would be a species of snake. i have friends that own corns and they're super docile and actually come out during the day sometimes and are comfortable being held. i have a ball python and he's wonderful but they as a species are not particularly interested in socialization and tend to be shy, but i think they have the cutest faces. recently i've gotten acquainted with red-tail boas and they're fantastic - they can get pretty big (6+ ft) but they are pretty and super docile and have lots of personality.

i just. love snakes. i need like a bajillion of them.

Yea, species was the word I was looking for. I can't into English.

Yea, from what I've read corn snakes are great for first time snake owners and can be gotten pretty cheaply too. I just really like the color pattern on them. I'd buy one right now if my mom wasn't deathly afraid of snakes. Boas seem cool to me, a friend of mine used to have one (he probably still does, I just haven't talked to him in a while) and it was pretty chill. I don't think I'd want a snake that big though, plus they seem like they would need a lot more care than a simpler species like a corn snake. Humidity and temperature differences and all that.
