it's face is the alchemical symbol for sulfur, so honestly i'm expecting fire/poison

If it does end up being Fire/Poison I will love it even more.

Always liked the Poison type.

Plus it'd be immune to Burns and Poison.

That 4x weakness to Earthquake though.

I would lose my shit if it's fire/poison. I'm a huge sucker for unique types like that

That would be seriously nasty weakness to ground though.
But with Litten's forehead symbol being sulphur, I'm probably going to get hyped for explosive fire hairballs only to find out that won't be a thing.

I'm thinking I'll get Moon Version, and Litten. There's a good chance I'll change my mind once more information comes out (like version exclusives), but for now, I'm loving that fire cat and cosmic bat.

If they end up Water/Fairy and Fire/Poison that'd be a fun bit of mutual competition.

Oh god no, I'd rather not have it be an Ice type

It wouldn't have to be to learn Ice Beam, every Water starter has been able to learn it from a TM and none of them were Ice. Since Ice Beam has been TM13 every gen except G/S, so I'm calling it, Popplio dominates starter match-ups.

Like it matters at all after you catch any second Pokemon.

I'm beginning to lean more towards Litten. Rolwet seems super popular, and I want to be DIFFERENT. (The initial reason I set my sights on Froakie in Gen VI was because it seemed like an unpopular choice at first, when the starters were first revealed I was thinking of choosing Chespin.) Something else inside me is also just telling me to choose the kitty.
And I really, REALLY hope Litten is Fire/Poison in the end. I don't care about the ground weakness, the immunity to two statuses seems super nice (now watch me get paralyzed fifty times before Victory Road).
Dang. I'm expecting Fire/Poison so much at this point I might just give up on Litten if it gets any other typing. :|

I also figured out why I don't like Popplio; it's the nose whiskers.

I'm sorta wanting a fire dark type for one of the probably best attacking STABs ever, but with everyone complaining how Litten is apparently "SUPER EDGY" or something, I think that may be a bit boring and send Litten down the popularity ladder.

Though he does have the colors of volcanic ash and lava, maybe a fire rock or fire ground?

I've been doing research on what exactly the new starters are inspired from, Popplio might be based on the Hawaiian monk seal, while Rowlet might be based on the Pueo owl. Litten? Beats me, I got nothing, not all of the Pokemon are gonna be based on Hawaiian species, I'm guessing...

Some of the area designs also gave me a general Oceania vibe, so there could be inspiration taken from outside Hawaii as well.

That said, people like kittens.

Litten seems like a continuation of the whole Chinese zodiac theme so many have pointed out. We've had a dragon (Charizard), rat (Cyndaquil), rooster (Torchic), monkey (Monferno), boar (Emboar), dog (Fennekin), and now a cat/tiger. Admittedly, they've taken some liberties here and there (Cyndaquil and Fennekin), but still.

Calling it now: Fire gym in a big volcano on what would be the biggest island.
Also probably totally a coincidence that Hawaii consists of 8 main islands.

Oh, another interesting opportunity, one of the 8 Hawaiian islands is uninhabited and was used as a military training ground. Could have ghost type stuff on that one.

big

Corocoro released a trailer, some people spotted something interesting in this spot.

Another Pokemon, could be this generation's first route runt.
