Today was a good day.
I didn't feel like an intruder at work because I actually had specific tasks in a nice checklist so I knew exactly was was expected of me and I really need that. I had to do online formations about the way my workplace works and that kind of stuff, which means I got to wear headphones and click Next once every 30s from 8 AM to 3:30 PM. I also got to figure out why I couldn't access some of the company's services and it was nothing I could do, we'll just have to wait until my accounts are all set up so I didn't feel like an idiot for being unable to log in like yesterday. Also I was a lot more comfortable with other people and I knew who they were and they were nice and helpful.
I'm making progress and I might soon be able to pass off as a real person.

COMPLETELY DONE WITH THE QUARTER WHOOOO. Now I get a week and a half off, and I get to go back to the hometown for part of it to see Sloth, sort out some wedding details, and get a tattoo with my sister! I don't have to be in the music building until all hours. I have no obligations. I get to sleep in.

Man, it's weird being home during normal dinner hours AND daylight. Is this what the kids call "free time"?

Today was even better. I started doing actual work with this tiny project they want me to do to teach myself the technologies they're using on their project. One of them offered to answer my questions and he helped me get started. At the end of the day I was friendly with many more people. Also I bought myself cookies and pastries and fruits.

I am not suffering a critical meltdown at 72°F today. The house is at 70°, instead.

I went back to my hometown for the weekend and my parents gave me a lot of stuff to bring back to the apartment. New clothes, new shoes, my mother's chicken soup and ragoût, an apple pie baked by my father, and my sister brought me a doughnut dipped in maple syrup from a nearby sugar shack, and my mother hid Easter chocolates in one of my boxes. Sweet!

Didn't have a single pang of anxiety today even though it was a fairly tiring and relatively stressful day. I think I'm getting used to handling the craziness that is teaching.

I mean I had a few twinges and "ugh"s of anxiety but no paralyzing stabs. I could end the day without second guessing EVERYTHING. Just like, two things. ...I'm downplaying this a lot but the point is I don't feel like I wanna lie in bed forever at the end of the day and that's a lot better than I expected myself to feel.

This song makes me very pop flyin'.

Also, I got an email about that promotion, and all I gotta do now is schedule an interview. Pays better, more consistent hours, better snacks, less time in the bookshelves, all around upgrade.

I started working at a smaller local grocery store last week and I like it enough that I don't hate myself and I've been more productive outside of work because of it.

Also something that I thought was cool is that today I found out that my 81 year old, church-going, country music listening boss is actually a liberal and supports Bernie Sanders. Completely surprised me, especially because this is the South.

Maybe he is one of the few who have figured out that if you actually fucking read the goddamned bible instead of just the church bulletin, the early Christian community started out with a socialist attitude.

Nice choice of words when describing the bible. That makes me chuckle.

Attended an early childcare teaching conference, shit was rad. Sang The Aquabats' Pizza Day for a crowd of teachers and childcare professionals and they all thought it was sick.

Also I think I got that promotion? shhhh tho, don't tell no one.

I spent one hour and a half helping the same lady with her computer again and she gave me twice the cheddar I would have charged and a jar of homemade caramel.

Got a new keyboard. It has lights in the keys so I can quickly find where to put my hands without fumbling for a light source, and it is much better for actually typing that the other keyboard that I had to use before (which has the \ key where the edge of the Enter key should be, which is where I reach for making line breaks without putting more stress on my short fingers than necessary).

It is fun to type on this, though the keys are a touch more sensitive than I would like. I keep pressing ever so slightly on other keys as my fingers reach for what I need, so I have to fix errors every now and then. Otherwise, it's a nice keyboard and I am pop flyin' with it.

^Mechanical? Once you get a mechanical keyboard, you'll never want to go back to a membrane one.

In other news, my hair finally got long enough that I can actually get conditioner to lather up well in it and my hair is so fucking soft now. It still isn't quite long enough to style it very well so it still looks messy but holy shit it's so soft. I had it long before, but I didn't take care of it then so it was always tangled and dry and stuff.
