so, probably a silly question, but what does Big Boss man when he says, "don't they understand focus fire?" like, what I'd focus fire?

Sorry for my english.

The « Focus Fire » is a method that tend a team to aim only one enemy at the time (until he die). It's good offensively and defensively, because a dead enemy is an enemy that can't hit you.

For example, we have two teams :

You have 5 Squirrels with 140 HP and 30 Attack.
The enemy line have 5 evil Teddy Bears with 150 HP and 35 Attack.

At the first look, you're going to be wrecked. But the IA of the evil Teddy Bear choose a Duel approch (1 VS 1) but you're using the Focus Fire Method (all the 5 Squirrels against 1 Teddy Bear).

Turn 1 :
5 × Squirrels with 105 HP (-35 HP each).
4 × Teddy Bears with 150 HP (-0 HP) and 1 × dead Teddy Bear (-30 × 5 = -150 HP).

Turn 2 :
4 × Squirrels with 70 HP and 1 × Squirrel with 105 HP (nobody can't hit him).
3 × Teddy Bears with 150 HP and 2 × dead Teddy Bears.

Turn 3 :
3 × Squirrels with 35 HP, 1 × Squirrel with 70 HP and 1 × Squirrel with 105 HP.
2 × Teddy Bears with 150 HP and 3 × dead Teddy Bears dead.

Turn 4 :
2 × dead Squirrels, 1 × Squirrel with 35 HP, 1 × Squirrel with 70 HP and 1 × Squirrel with 105 HP.
1 × Teddy Bear with 150 HP and 4 × dead Teddy Bears.

Turn 5 :
3 × dead Squirrels, 1 × Squirrel with 70 HP and 1 × Squirrel with 105 HP.
1 × Teddy Bear with 60 HP (-30 × 3 = -90) and 4 × dead Teddy Bears.
(That's the worse case for you team. Some IA tend to hit the healthier one !).

Turn 6 :
3 × dead Squirrels, 1 × Squirrel with 35 HP and 1 × Squirrel with 105 HP.
5 × dead Teddy Bears.

You win !

I don't want to meet the squirrel that has only 5 less attack than a bear. Teddy or otherwise. Unless we're talking mtg where the bear will have at most 3.

Funny thing about Peace Walker, Big Boss is at most an A rank in every stat and by the end of the game MSF is going to be full of S ranked soldiers at least in their specialties. So, he's only "technically" the best soldier.

"Kaz. when did we hire a dragon?"
"Snake. I just had this great idea where we field soldiers to far and distant lands. Nowi here is one of operatives in Ylisse.
"And where is this "Ylisse?"
"Uh... Don't worry about that right now."

Personally, I kinda wish that Cia from Hyrule Warriors was DLC along with Bayonetta. Despite concerning what she was from it's doubtful she'll ever appear again, but I just think adding one "oddly heavily attractive for Nintendo standards magic-user", you might as well have both. It just feels more balanced that way. Also, more Zelda characters. Well, at least Cia would stand out as she wouldn't be a moveset clone and is pretty original in general.

What about Krystal, or does she not count because of the reboot of Star Fox?

Unfortunately, Cia's not a main protagonist in the zelda series, let alone canon (as she appeared as DLC for hyrule warriors only). Also, If you recall, Bayonetta is a DLC because she was top voted (among realizable characters), not necessarily because she's an "oddly heavily attractive for Nintendo standards magic-user."

Also, I don't think kids or nintendo are ready to handle that much cleavage in smash. This is still E10+. Guns, yes. Women in tight clothing, yes. Sexy Sorceress Boobies, not really. Nintendo even adjusted Bayonetta's alt costume so that you can't really see her cleavage (as apposed to her own game where you can see the line clearly)

BTW, I wanted Duster from Mother 3 in the game. Something about a limp dude outrunning most of the roster seemed interesting to me.

I wasn't aware that was a smash necessity.

Cia is basically the mirror of a fanfic self insert OC.

And calling Bayonetta "oddly attractive for Nintendo" as if Nintendo was ever wholesome is funny to me. Nintendo specializes in being "fun" and sometimes "pop flyin'", not "for kids". While they aren't just going to shove sex in your face to get sales, they aren't going to "as a rule" avoid it.

Edit: And even if it was "for kids" it's a Japanese company and has different standards for what's appropriate for kids.

I think that was the intention, Cia always felt like a fangirl who played the videogames who got sucked into the Zelda Universe and then was corrupted by Ganon who used her hots for Link to control her like a puppet.

I believe Krystal deserves a place, because she'd be the only Starfox character who ISN'T a moveset clone.

Keep in mind, that one scene early in Hyrule Warriors there is a massive zoom up shot at Cia's visible cleavage. I was going to upload the pic to MiiVerse with the caption "You know, for kids!" but I was afraid MiiVerse would ban my account despite it's from their own freaking game. (It's not unknown for that sort of situation to happen in places)
