I got the joke. I didn't laugh. But I got it. :|

I haven't finished this game after I left my Wii U in another state. I remember Dart and every barbarian was a waste of a slot. I had Marcus and the cavaliers doing most of the attacking with Lyn and Guy serving as secondaries. Then whatever else I had was left in reserve, usually Rebecca and some magic caster with clerics running around. I wanted to use Lyn's friend more, the Pegasus warrior who's name I forget. But she kept getting singled out by archers and dying. Every. Single. Time! :shakefist:

Actually, Dart is one of the best combat units in the game once he promotes, due to him having legendary attack and speed, and most of the FE7 enemies being slow sucky death fodder.

I remember I always put him against 40ish wyvern riders at once and he never took damage and beat them all with iron and hand axes.
Admittedly, his defenses suck, but he only gets hit about Twice an entire playthrough.

If I recall correctly, Marcus was the Paladin they gave you at the start? The one with the way better stats than everyone surrounding him? Yeah, that's a trap. He has less possible levels, takes longer to level up per each level, and inferior stat growths. Useful only for tactical positioning, and if you can do so, weakening enemies to feed kills to other units.

That's a quirk of the AI. Prioritizing effective damage and possible kills. If an archer can attack your pegasus knights, it is entirely your fault they were in that position to begin with.

Also note, Fire Emblem AI is notorious for prioritizing screwing over the player. They will do things that doesn't make sense except for in that context.

Actually, Dart is one of my best units in the game. One reason is that Dart is the fastest and one of the strongest primary axe user out of all the axe users in the GBA Series, which makes him good when dealing with sword users, who tend to strike twice, and why he can dodge so much. When promoted to a berzerker, Dart gets the same quirks as Swordmasters: +15% crit chance. Give this guy a killer axe and you've got a real killing machine. He'll come at you when you'd least expect it, like a Dart.

Unless you're speedrunning, Marcus is merely supposed to be a handicap unit if you're not sure how to deal with things. He's alright at first (not that you'd use him) but later on he becomes "not-so-useful" as Marcus has one of the worst overall stat growths in the game.

I got Marcus to level 20 once for the hell of it and his health was 41 and only his skill was maxed out. Every other stat was either 18 or (much) less. Luckily for you, you only played him when he was young. Wait 'til ya fight as grandpa marcus, and then you'll see some real dirt.

I have no idea what you mean by secondaries. I don't really think "maining" units is a term.

Huh. I never used the Devilaxe, so I didn't know it worked like that.

It actually come in really useful for high luck units like Marcus (the prepromote paladin) and not any barbarian ever(luck stats for them are atrocious), as the Devil Axe doesn't backfire as often.


But of course, following the rules of the RNG, it will only backfire when critical hitting a 0 defense unit to deal 500 damage on you.
