I'm sorry, but I can't find this page actually funny.

I get it, "Dart has low skill", but an in-game stat that keeps units from hitting each other should not correlate to simple motor functions or hand-eye coordination. I'm reminder of how Yahtzee compared it to making "jokes" about how walking requires legs in reality and control sticks in video games.

I think you find it funnier if you actually tried to hit with an axe user and miss 5 or more time in a row. I found it funny. x) "Aaaaaah come on, Ross !" (also, Loyde++)

Not to mention, the swordmaster's dodge animation show them barely moving. They're pretty much backing up slightly like an anime highschooler dude in a fight he doesn't take seriously.

So true. x)

Awww yeh.
First my terrible idea comes to life, then Katie gives me a new drawing of Lyn.
Dreams do come true, and if someone could get me a better Lyn avatar than this, I'll gladly take it.

I don't have the chance to play Fire Emblem. So, I get a joke which is completely different from the original idea.

For me, the two men try to do a High Five (like a Victory Dance). But, due to the difference between the size of the two men, the game does not manage to synchronize the High Five hands to hands (the big guy hit higher than the small one). So, that's the joke I get. Am I the only one ?

Sorry for my english. Have a nice day !

Edit : Everythings lead to this direction ! The small guy kill the last Bandit following the Victory High Five. The "fast" argument is maybe a prank. We don't do High Five where I live, so I suppose there are High Five Prank, like dodging the other guy hands an saying "Too slow !". For me, it's consistent !
I am not sure that I make myself clear. +1 point for everybody who manage to understand what I wanted to say !

Actually many Fire Emblem games, including Blazing Sword, are 2D games and work with sprites, so... I can think of this problem with 3D models, but less in a RPG-style game.

It is actually a girl, Lyn, who appears in Super Smash Bros as an assist trophy.

Yes, there are this kind of jokes. I didn't notice, but I think it might be an other "layer" of the joke. Where do you live, if it is not tactless to ask ?

Aurl2 wrote:

If you know a little bit the game, I think the joke is pretty clear. I'm not saying you are dumb or anything, you haven't play the game, you don't know the references... Myself for example, I misunderstood this Cyanide & Happiness comic because I didn't know the "5 second rule", we don't really have that in France (but we have people that pick something on the floor and eat it too, and I think it's pretty gross, but we don't have this expression). So I though it was a joke on the tropes of zombie movie, like zombie have a rule to give 5 more second to a protagonist in order for him to miraculously save his life. This message was just to underline why the joke is clear for someone who played the game. ^^

Also, you should try a Fire Emblem game. It's a real hell for a completionist like me, that's why I decided not to play another FE after Sacred Stones, it is too frustrating. But otherwise, if you're not a completionist, they are great games.

This comic seems kinda weak. I think the joke needed more build up. Show the big guy unable to hit anything, or something like that.

It is GBA, same game engine as Sacred Sword.

You'd be surprised at just how amazing the GBA's graphics could be. This is the console that plays Golden Sun, which is all 3d and glorious.

Also, more honorable mentions of cool animations go to Hectorcopter and Warrior.

That's exactly what I was thinking, until I got to the forum :J (I also haven't played a Fire Emblem game, unless you count derping around for 10min with an untranslated Super Famicom ROM.)

The trick with Ghirahim is he's lying through his teeth — when he says "you need to not telegraph", the truth is you need to telegraph lies back at him.
