I have one of those friends that just bitch and moan endlessly about politics on Facebook without actually saying anything. You know the ones. They love to use buzzwords to make empty statements. Today he changed his location to United Socialist States of America. Wow! How insightful! It's almost like you're not a complete fucking tool!

Meanwhile I have a friend who likes to bitch and moan about "the struggle" and especially how it relates to him. Known the guy since high school, everyone's been supportive as hell of him being gay, got a full ride to NYU for music with $50K a year over all of his schooling costs, he now works for disneyland and loves every moment of it, he's preparing for his wedding, and about to get a big promotion to working on composing music for some of the parades and stage shows Disney puts on.

Like, obviously not everything has been 100% perfect all the time for him and he's worked a shitload to get where he is, but it feels super hypocritical to talk about shit like you know what it's like to grow up in a hateful community and to have everyone against you as a person and no one offer to give you a chance and all this other shit you commiserate with people on while also posting how you were the first choice of someone for a dream career and all the other "I'd like the thank the academy" kinda posts you make. It's one thing to be proactive within a community you feel oneness with but you can't ingratiate yourself into a group by pretending your life is anything like theirs and that your opinion holds more sway than others because you've suffered alongside them.

Love the dude to death but I cannot read most shit he posts on facebook anymore.

What is it with people's inability to not have some form of noise in the background?
My sister and her boyfriend and their kids came over for dinner and we were actually having a nice time for once (her kids weren't shrieking and destroying my things and coating every surface with organic fluids and we could actually hold a conversation) and my father asked me to put the TV on so we would have to scream at each others and the kids would get overstimulated and start destroying things and making a mess while screaming continuously.
Last time I had a friend over, my father also suggested repeatedly to plug in the radio where we were hanging out and disregarded my answers because can't have fun without annoying noise. Also everyone seems to think I'm a freak because I have always had the radio turned off in my car because I'd rather focus on not running people over and I'm not afraid of my own thoughts and it's the one place where I get to decide not to be polluted by other people's music.

I'm the one who's afraid of human interactions, I shouldn't be the one who's trying to turn every meeting into a noisy waste of time to prevent any actual exchange.

You know what's really great.
When the school year starts with relatively few courses so you'd normally have plenty of time to do this one tough physics course you never passed but you're a mental handicap and cannot concentrate and have to instead focus on simply working towards normalcy your own infinite dumbassery cost you.

Now I've got tons of work to do before the year ends and I'm still not back to normal, maybe about halfway there. Christ, just give me a time machine so I can go back and punch myself really, really hard.

And while you're at it, please give me a machine that craps out thesis topics.

Normal people don't have to deal with problems like this. Normal people don't pick fights and run their mouth until it backfires on them. Normal people think of their own best.

Edit: I stepped on my glasses. This is exactly what I needed.

My old boss moved to a new store, and her only assistant manager quit on her. Now she needs help and it will probably fall on me to go over there and help out for some shifts for the next few weeks.

I don't mind helping my old boss out, she's awesome. But I can't stand people that don't give their two weeks' notice. Seriously, be a professional and at least finish out the currently scheduled week. That way other people don't have their schedules screwed up covering for you.

The only bonus from this is the chance at overtime, but even then, the gas I'd spend to go over there and back might cancel that out.

Some people really need to be told that they can't pretend they're not engaging in a strawman argument just because someone else made the strawman.

I wonder if there's ever been a point in my mom's life where she's tried not being vapid.

Today she got mad enough at my dad at dinner that she stormed off to her room without eating or taking her plate, and slammed the door behind her (when she usually doesn't even close the door at all). What was she mad over?
That my dad reached to grab something instead of asking someone to pass it.

within the span of two hours i had:

- gotten the mail
- had my dog run away
- dehydrated myself from panicking/yelling for him/sweating bc its hot
- had a panic attack bc i live within walking distance of a major highway and i was terrified he was my next taxidermy project
- found my dog
- realized i was locked out of my house and the only two people with spare keys were out of town
- tried to break into my house with a screwdriver (gave up bc it would have destroyed my doorframe)
- had to call kyle home from work to rescue me

and all this because i wanted to get the mail before started fallout 4

There, there, Shazza. It'll all get better once the entire world is reduced to an irradiated ashen wasteland and you have to traverse it on foot fighting mutant hellbeasts with bits of wood and guns with no ammo.

I had the same happen to me once, minus the highway and taxidermy bit.

I really think this woman I know needs to be told that just because the common image of an "internet logician" is of a man doesn't mean she can't be one. Saddeningly the metaphorical fedora is actually gender-neutral.

I'm really bothered by some of the word choices I made in that taboo topics post. "outsider" comes to mind. What an utterly moronic way of describing someone. Nobody is a god damn "outsider."

I really am giving myself a hard time over this, I know. It's just that I cannot believe something like that ever seemed like a good idea. People were discussing hate crimes and what do you do? Start shit talking people, for the second time. Just how can a person's sense of judgment collapse so badly? How could something like that sound like a good idea? I got warned beforehand too, but decided to ignore it. Absolutely everything about it was wrong. For Christ's sake, I just want to be safe in my own head, be in the present, and be able to concentrate. I denied myself all of that. I've made so many amends it's ridiculous but I still cannot for the life of me forgive myself.
