How about this. The answer isn't to defeat the cluster or keep it sealed away, but to dismantle it by defusing the gem shards. The confrontation is likely going to end how Inuyasha began, with the scattering of gem shards from a massive defusion event.

This will likely also coincide/be followed by Steven's powers maturing to a point where they can heal gems rather than bubbling them indefinitely, leading to the reunion of the Crystal Gem army, to fight against the Diamond Authority.

That's my guess atleast.

I really want to see Peridot and Amethyst fuse because I am pretty certain that monstrosity would be so much worse than Sugilite ever could be.

I would like to see Peridot fuse with someone, though, but it seems like she'd rather rely on her technology than traditional gem style.

after all, the cluster is effectively occupying a cavity, Pearl has the toothpick, Amy has the floss, Garnet's gloves can rip out the teeth, and Steven's shield is the bowl you spit into.

Besides which it'd be satisfying for her to suddenly yell "now THIS is a WEAPON!"

Man, Peridot sure was an asshole this episode. She really is a cat, breaking Steven's things like that.....I still love her.

Gah...this show finds more and more ways to make me feel bad for Pearl.

At least this episode didn't break Pearl again. I'm glad she's starting to come to terms with who she is and coming into her own. Especially with Steven backing her up she can be proud to be her own definition of what a Pearl should be. It'll be interesting to see how Peridot develops from this. Everything is definitely alien to her and she's not used to processing the emotional backlash to what she says since it's "just the way things are" in Homeworld. It'd be interesting to see her and Garnet's interactions given her involvement in the forced fusion experiments and her opinions on other gem types.
