Good news, the show's main composers, aivi and surasshu, have a Soundcloud where they upload the show's music for anyone to listen to! It is, however, full of spoilers for later episodes (one of the pinned songs is a critical track for the ending of season 1) so you might want to hold off on going there just yet.

Thank you very much c:

Some of these songs remind of a certain other show and Kingdom Hearts.

Also here's a thing I know someone on this forum will appreciate

Gem and the Holograms?

Just passed the Lapis episode.
Oh man they are finally going to talk about the gem's history.
"You don't understand."
:colbert:

Also Lapis is best gem.

Heh, yeah that happens a lot. Lapis had a hard life though.

I really wish they would have an episode on her backstory. I want to know if she was a Crystal Gem fighting along with Rose/a Homeworld Gem that got trapped in the mirror and why the Crystal Gems used her like they did, rather than either bubbling her or releasing her for Rose to fix.

Great!

Also, anyone feel weird that while the gems hold grudges/have complicated feelings about eachother and Steven, there still hasn't been an episode dealing with their feelings about him releasing Lapis to begin with? I mean, Homeworld is causing stress to the gems in part because of what Steven did, and they were certainly angry about him refusing to give them the mirror and allowing Lapis to escape into the ocean, but it seems strange that they forgave him so easily, not in the sense of "he's a child, of course he's going to make mistakes" and Lapis isn't really a bad gem and has done things to help the crystal gems, but given how they've acted so far with hiding feelings and how broken and helpless they can be, they might have some hidden feelings about what he did that might need to be resolved.

It feels weird to me that there hasn't even been anything hinted about this though.

It's because they didn't know Lapis was there at all. The way they talked about it in the episode, they didn't expect Lapis to be an actual person, and definitely not strong enough to have hydrokinesis.

Gems aren't necessarily humanoid and intelligent by nature. The wild gem animals that are poofed and contained aren't cracked or broken, and yet Rose was trying to heal them. Steven comes very close to domesticating one. So I assume "healing" in this sense isn't a physical thing, but more emotional. These gems aren't naturally humanoid or even particularly strong, they're just wild, afraid, and on an alien planet. They may not be hostile by nature, at least to other gems, and Rose wanted to help them acclimate.

So naturally, since gems vary in power, some would come up that wouldn't even show sentience or any intelligence at all. Those gems would still have an inherent power though, and that could be channeled through specific tools. We've already seen a few of them, one was powering the spinning-room-ship, and the desert glass. Those gems don't seem to have an intelligence of any kind, but they're effective tools.

So nobody gave a second thought to if the mirror would contain an intelligent gem. It took Steven's innocence and complete ignorance of how gem tools work for him to believe that the mirror wasn't glitching out.

So on one hand, he did cause Homeworld to learn about Earth again, but on the other hand, he did the right thing letting Lapis out of the mirror and helping her. He couldn't have known that it would bring Homeworld down on them, simply because the Gems never told him.

End of the day, it's basically their fault for not telling Steven everything. He saw someone in need and helped them, and the consequences for it all fall on them not telling him what could happen.

The gem monsters used to be humanoid gems just like the main characters, though. In the episode when the centipeetle gets un-bubbled, you can see for a split second it tried to take on a humanoid form. And Amethyst TELLS steven that all the monsters they fight used to be gems just like them.

I'm pretty sure they were just trying to hide Lapis's existence from Steven. When Lapis was freed she said "you KNEW I was in there". The crystal gems just didn't want to fee a homeworld gem. They didn't have to know exactly who she was to know that they didn't want her free on earth.

Well, Lapis thought they knew she was in there, but they might not necessarily have.

I mean, they obviously knew the mirror is gem powered, but my personal headcanon is that they didn't think it was still alive in any capacity, let alone sentient, and i doubt even the idea of her being uncorrupted even came up.

I want to buy every freaking DVD that ever comes out of this series NOW!

You might want to hold off, tbh. The only dvd that's out at the moment is ten episodes picked out from the first season, skipping some episodes in between. And some of them are out of order to boot. I don't know whose genius idea that was.
