Also she reminds me more and more of a Robot Master with every appearance. No wonder I decided she was my favourite before I'd even started watching the show.

I just like binge watched all the episodes over 3 days and it is so good! Surprisingly emotional at parts too. One thing I don't really get though is all the love for Peridot, and the Peridot and Lapis shipping. Guess a lot of it just went over my head?

The last episode, Friend Ship, solidified Peridot's presence as both a previously-established technological genius as well as a smug, snarky and overconfident jerk who can't stand the notion that she can't constantly outwit the gems at every turn. Essentially, she's a "nerd". People like that kind of character.

Lapis and Peridot? I don't know where you've been getting that, but that's definitely not the case. I could reason Jasper and Peridot as people reading too heavily into their relationship, but Lapis never interacts with Peridot onscreen and it's unlikely very much occurred offscreen, other than an assumed interrogation on the Crystal Gems' location.

I mostly see Jasper/Peridot and Lapis/Jasper actually. Lapis, despie hating them both, is lumped in with them as part of the "other" trio of gems.

Aqua, the amount of times characters interact is completely unrelated to how hard people will ship them. People shipped Equius and Rose, two Homestuck characters who have never met nor had a conversation (until VERY recently, and even then it only counts for 50%/75% depending on the panel) for years. I'm not even sure if Rose knew Equius existed until sometime in 2011, long after the shipping had started.

I started watching this show today and got twelve or so episodes in.

Pearl is best character.

I realize that. That doesn't mean it will magically make sense.

I got a good ways further into the show, up to where Steven fucks up and reveals himself to Peridot.

Also Kindergarten now has terrifying connotations for me.

I just started watching this a few days ago (just finished 20) and has anyone else noticed the amazing BGM? If anyone has got a youtube playlist of it or something I really want to give it a proper listen.

Good news, the show's main composers, aivi and surasshu, have a Soundcloud where they upload the show's music for anyone to listen to! It is, however, full of spoilers for later episodes (one of the pinned songs is a critical track for the ending of season 1) so you might want to hold off on going there just yet.
