The expected answer to "this guy is suffering and suicidal" isn't "I hope he successfully kills himself then" but "I hope he gets better".

That's assuming that that's possible. Considering the reputation of the US's prison system it doesn't seem very likely. Obviously it's not a very pretty or preferable outcome, but "horrible" is a bit too extreme a term considering the alternative might be a lifetime of suffering. Mostly this is making me think about voluntary euthanasia for prisoners with severe mental or physical issues, a pretty controversial topic. I think my country actually had the first case worldwide of that this year, and the guy still had to fight tooth and nail for thirty years to get it too happen. Source

A Bernie Sanders rally got shut down by some Black Lives Matter protesters.

I don't want to sound like some tinfoil hat wearing person, but I honestly think they were paid to do it. You don't see any of the Republican candidates getting shut down like that, and Bernie is probably the worst person for them to go against since he bodaciously walked with MLK JR and has been fighting for Civil Rights before they were even born.

Oh yea, I think just standing by and not stopping them is probably the best thing he could've done. He's definitely my favorite candidate so far. Even if he doesn't get the nomination, I feel like he's definitely accomplished a lot to not have a huge financial backing like other candidates.

Its just depressing how little chance Sanders really has of getting elected. He's definetly the best choice out there, but you cant get ahead in the U.S Presidential race without the sheer inertia of decades of lobbyist support.

this is basically completely untrue in the current situation we're in

right now, the republican party is basically dead. unless fuckin' nobody under 45 decides to vote, and only a bunch of old white people and florida actually vote, then they don't stand a chance in hell. they've fucked up waaaay too much, and their best candidate is fucking donald trump. they don't have this election, and they'll be lucky if they have one in the next 25 years.

so it's basically a race in the democratic primaries.

and in the democrat party, there's really only the two candidates. hilary clinton, and bernie sanders.

hilary clearly has the funding to support her campaign, and she definitely has a pretty solid female vote, but bernie has very quickly started to catch up. people are showing up to his rallies, he's getting attention, and he's got a lot of youth on his side, which is the voting group that actually matters. young voters usually do not vote, especially in more recent elections. it's looking like bernie is getting their attention, however.

even these people like, kicking him out of his own speech? that is so much good publicity. so much. there's no losing side of that for him.

he's been getting more and more recognition, and if it keeps up like this, he very likely could win the primaries. which, once again, would basically mean the presidency.

I saw somewhere that he gained like 10k twitter followers during the GOP debate, which is just insane since he wasn't even there.

I think he's definitely got a chance. I don't think the Republican party is completely dead in the water though. There are still a lot of people that will vote republican regardless of who gets the nomination.

nowhere near enough

the republican party has bodaciously, intentionally and purposefully, does their best to beat down and harm anyone who is not an middle-to-upper-class white male.

so lets go down the list of people they have completely isolated and thus the voting groups they don't have

females, just in general
black people
latino people
asian people
poor people
all LGBTQ+ people
young people
anyone with a disability
anyone who has received assistance from obamacare
anyone who has even a slight sense of morality

so that's... easily over half of america. probably more like 80% of america.
now lets look at the people they have actively fought for

upper-to-middle-class white people
bodaciously the KKK

they do not stand a chance in hell

You do realize that bodaciously hundreds of thousands of people from all those groups vote against their own interests because they think that the Republican party actually gives a shit about them, right?

I agree that they focus mostly on upper-to-middle-class white people, but there are still a lot of voters that stay uninformed.

I live in a pretty conservative area, and I personally know of several people my age that plan to vote Republican just because they don't feel like doing their research on the candidates and are just going to vote for the party they were raised to believe in.

Still, I think the majority of people will vote democratic, I'm just saying that the Republican party isn't completely dead.

Yea, basically this as well.

i would like to point out that the last time we actually had a republican president elected was fourteen years ago, which was back when the republican party was not so clearly batshit insane.

you seem to assume that the current situation is somewhat similar to previous elections. it's not. the republican party has so consistently fucked up, so consistently been absolutely terrible. and i'm not talking over like, history or whatever, i'm talking recently. it's fresh. we remember it.

they just do not stand anywhere near a chance. they're not in this election. they do not matter and they're currently throwing a fit about it.

Umm, Bush won in 2004, or does incumbency not count?

Maybe you're right. I only just turned 18 this year, so I've only just recently started paying attention to politics. I'm only going by what I've seen, but like I said, I live in a conservative area, so that could be adding a bias to my views.

i wasn't really counting incumbency no, and his win wasn't really due to the republican party so much as "OH MY GOD 9/11 WE HAVE TO PROTECT AMERICA"

This is good news. I thought the republicans were going to win because of the voters' tendency to elect the candidate from the opposite party once a president has done two mandates (I remember being told it's a thing).

Though the voting system isn't proportional, unfortunately, so the end results will be less representative of the real votes, though the two party system means it has a lesser impact.
