Ness is confused as to why Lucas is in an American game.

The Flying Men are the personification of the courage in Ness' soul. They're brave warriors who fight to the death for Ness while he's in Magicant. However, there are only five of them, and their deaths are permanent.

I would say something about the fact that "Earthbound Beginnings Magicant" has nothing to do with Ness, and isn't even his dreamworld. But then I'd turn into StrawGuy2009

The Magicant stage in Super Smash Bros. is a combination of the two forms of Magicant seen in the two games, but also primarily features elements from Earthbound.
