I'm curious. Why do the splatfests have to be different? I'd be fine if USA got nomming vs zzz, so why do I have to be caught between Rollercoasters and Waterslides?? I have to back up waterslides, since they tend to have less line and are more fun for me, but coasters are definitely going to win, prolly due to poularity...
UGGGGHHHHHHHHHH

this p much. I get why we didn't get Rice vs. Bread from Japan, but I don't see the need to change the theme from NTSC to PAL.

I don't have a good answer to "why", so all I have is: "why not"? Sure, if you don't do a certain theme at all it could be inconvenient ("Rock v Pop" if you don't listen to music at all), but most people should be able to identify in the themes.

I'm pretty glad that we have "Eat v Sleep" because that's very central to my life (or any other's, actually). It's a bit funny, because as I was confronting the dilemma, I realized I wouldn't be able to play this Splatfest, so I don't have to choose.

I like how interesting the teams are this time around. I'm going with water slides because roller coasters are super scary. Plus, what self respecting squid wouldn't choose water slides?

Well the squids in Splatoon dissolve when they come into contact with water, so...

Yeah, that's what I thought too. But then I Marie was all "This happens a lot" so I assume they wear a special jumpsuit or something while swimming or doing anything water related. I also like to think they sleep in their ink as well... so much speculation. I should write this down.

Then one more thing, SPLOOSH-O-MATIC.
I have officially ditched Inkbrush for this. Now I like Inkbrush, but it just can't take out groups for its life. Also Splooshmatic has Squid Beakons, which effectively give me a place to stealth jump to as long as they stand. I will miss Inkstrike, though... but I feel this is a good trade-off for my playstyle and better for going alone.
Also it's a bit funny when someone splats you and then accidentally jump into your Killer Wail right as it goes out... rest in puddles.

I just had the greatest run in ranked. I'd just gone on tilt and fallen back down to basically rock bottom (around 10-20 points in C-) when I noticed another Splat Charger user, a Japanese girl inkling in that weird fishing hat thing. After I figured out their usual hiding place in Saltspray Rig and took them out several times it officially became a minor Charger War.

We both stayed for something like 20 games, engaging in bitter rivalry and both of us usually topping the ranks in our teams at the end of each game, despite me consistently being the lowest-ranking team member. And as I played, I slowly climbed out of the pits of C-, and built my hype-gauge thing up to 9.0. I feel much more confident with the charger now, and definitely think the default has potential.

In summary, friendly rivalries are really good at stopping you from going on tilt and playing badly. And when you team up, it usually turns out in victory.

Also I ordered the weird fishing hat thing when I saw them in the plaza.

We're getting Eating vs Sleeping. Team food will of course claim glorious victory.

I feel like I shouldn't be too harsh when team members or enemies are especially poor at the game, as they're most likely small children. Still though, a 87p score does sorta rankle when it's one of the Good Guys.

I chose water slides because even a small, slow roller coaster was enough to scare the crap outta me before. Meanwhile, a fast waterslide through a dark tube was more exciting than scary to me. It also helps that I can swim, unlike the inklings, who are all now essentially joining a deathcult for Marie.

I still stand by my squiddy jumpsuit theory.

In my fanon, some inklings can swim. They don't dissolve in water. However, the ink stored in their cells does. Without the ink, they are less powerful and cannot transform into squids - you always see them turning into kids before they sink, don't you. Gotta fill them up with ink again to fix 'em up!
Also yea, differently colored ink doesn't go well together, which is why the enemy team's ink hurts you. Between matches, inklings use a machine which basically showers them real quick to get the old color out and then they're filled with the new color for the next match.

I always figured it's not that the Inklings can't swim, but that the water is out of bounds and landing in the water is akin to go directly to jail, do not pass go.

Man, strolling around Inkopolis Plaza is so depressing right now. I'm touched by how many players care enough to create their own tributes to Iwata after his passing.

Because Team Sleep will be doing what they do best the whole Splatfest! Image
