All those /v/ threads that started with a sadfrog saying Iwata will die in your lifetime have just come true.
He is now with Gunpei Yokoi.

55 is too young to die, especially with such a legacy.

Cancer is a bitch. I should know.

Nintendo Directs and the related Iwata Asks were a truly refreshing break from the constant barrage of "gaming journalism." In a time of ever-growing AAA powerhouse studios, it made Nintendo feel more approachable. His passing saddens me greatly. Please rest in peace Mr. Iwata.

My computer says its security settings won't let me view the page, but for the life of me I can't figure out what setting is blocking it. Anyone willing to textdump this (assuming it's not too long)?

He had to die at the worst time too... After everybody was complaining about E3
Now he won't even get to see the release of the NX or the mobile games... Rest in peace you brilliant man.

Ya know, seeing someone die relatively young from a disease that he had treated a while back does NOT help with the hypochondria.

I don't think I've ever been this affected by a public figure's death before. The man was a genius programmer and seriously earned his spot at the top of Nintendo. I'm heartbroken to see him go.

I haven't been affected by a public figures death either so far, and to be honest I never thought too much about Iwata, it was the kind of deal of 'he's here, and he's pretty cool I guess'. But now knowing he's gone is... man
Especially the farewell messages from Nintendo people and other friends, like Itoi and Arino... they really, really get me.

Remember, everyone, telling a bad player that they are bad at the game that they're playing is toxic.

Riot Games actually believes that they can put a system in place that can actively monitor and successfully police the millions of players they have when the people who have had input into said system include bad players who don't want to get told that they're bad.
