It's considered a pyramid-shaped mountain

So it's not a real pyramid, sue me for semantics

I was mostly exaggerating, if you couldn't tell from the aliens part

It's just an interesting discovery

For some reason I expected the surface of Pluto to be pitch dark

Which is why I think it would have been great if you had also expanded upon it; simply joking about it doesn't really stimulate any discussion.

Now, to act on what I preach: we've now managed to make electronics out of wood fiber.

That sounds better than the "paper" battery thing I heard about. Can't remember where or when, but it seemed cool. It was experimental then, though, and they said it would be at least a few years.

Really recommend the linked video of Grandi's series as well to get a grip of this wonky shit.

It made me think, should high school math dare tackle more abstract subjects like this to give the students a better appreciation of how long they have to go to understand the world around them and to make the lessons perhaps more exciting? I guess it might scare off students who often already have a distaste for math for being too dry and abstract, but I think stuff that really makes you go "wait waht" tends to spark their interest. One of the few lessons I remember is Zeno's paradox in middle school where half the class was furiously trying to find a way to disprove the teacher.

Introducing the "Underwater Waterfall" illusion at Mauritius Island

When viewed from above, a run off of silt and sand deposits create this illusion. Which is really freakin' cool.

Can anyone explain to me what they mean by 3D versus 2D? It almost seems to me like the author of the piece is misusing terminology, but I'm not arrogant enough to assume that just because I don't understand.

Can't say I really understand what they're talking about either. If I had to guess, perhaps traditional battery cells are stacked linearly (2D) and this technology allows for different configurations?

I'm not sure about that; batteries are often arranged in parallel to increase amperage, and I believe this applies to the cells inside some batteries as well?

For anyone interested, 10 thousand images from the Apollo missions are now collected on Flickr.
