That's generally my approach as well, but only for who takes which path, if I spawn at the back I'm not necessarily spawn inking, because I'm using a .56 Gal Deco atm and it's not really the best choice for painting the spawn, a Roller, Aerospray or Splattershot (Jr.) would get the task done way quicker.

Yes, sure, some weapons aren't really suited for that part, so someone else has to pitch in. I wouldn't let a sniper take care of it either, that's just too inefficient.
But as most people just rush ahead, I tend to find myself staying behind to spraypaint the base no matter where I started.

Of course you need to have people rush forward to meet the enemy and prevent them from taking over the center, but that's why you got four players in a team, right?

One player inking your third of the map is indeed welcome. That way, 3 on front take the central third, and the one in back can get, say, echolocator charged up, and take care of sneaky enemies.

Yeah, I tend to hang back and ink while my team charges ahead because I'm not the best at combat.

Our inkernet cap rolled over today, so I played Splatoon a whole bunch. Getting frustrated and nowhere with my attempts at Charger, I decided to try out inkbrush and HOLY SHIT THIS THING IS SO MUCH FUN. Half the time enemies and allies alike are in the middle of a harsh battle for the centre chunk Urchin Underpass and I'm off in some far section of enemy territory claiming huge swathes of ink and ambushing people who think they're safe. I finally unlocked Ranked mode (I haven't been playing much, okay?!) before handing off to my older brother (who hasn't played at all until now).

In summary: Play inkbrush, the weapon of champions.

Most brushes I see just try to hit me from a distance. It's kid of sad, really.

Custom Blaster is also awesome.

Alright, so I finally got around to playing ranked. Tower control is scary... there's such a vast improvement in player skill even coming from Turf War to C-, and couple that with trying to learn an entirely new, absurdly chaotic gamemode and my general inexperience with the Inkbrush and it's a recipe for a bad time. I've had a couple close games that our team came out on top in, and in one of them I was the top-ranking player!

I still love inkbrush though. So fun. Although I'm starting to see why so many people recommend Ninja Squid - gonna have to work on getting that shirt.

Lately I've started to dodge combat with the roller as much as I can and getting really good scores (1200+) for it. Turns out if you keep on running through the level the entire match without getting splatted you do very well for your team.

New Splatfest for NA the 17th.

Wasn't expecting a new one already, can't say I really feel as strongly for Roller Coasters as I did for dogs.

Ninja Squid? I never use it. I just find it so much more useful to have Swim Speed, because I usually approach from behind or around corners so I can splat the opposition before they notice. If I really wanna be sneaky, I just move a bit slower.
I am considering nabbing a stealth jump one, though. Being sneaky is hard when you only have so many places to get to an area... maybe Cold Blooded as well because I dun like being an assassinator when people can see me coming.

New splatfests announced!

For USA, you have... Team Rollercoasters VS. Team Waterslides.

For Europe and Australia, we have... Team Eating VS. Team Sleeping.

I've backed Team Sleep - I'd be a hypocrite not to after the absurd hours I've slept in for the past few weeks of holiday.

EU splatfest will be a mess. There'll be too few team sleeping players online, but the team eating players skills will be awful when they eat while playing.

While team Eating players stay up late and gorge themselves on midnight snacks, team Sleeping will form a diligent rotation between who performs their flagship act and who fights, keeping them all well-rested and at peak performance.

Also, sleeping doesn't have a chance to make your controller greasier so that's another advantage for Team Sleep.

I'm curious. Why do the splatfests have to be different? I'd be fine if USA got nomming vs zzz, so why do I have to be caught between Rollercoasters and Waterslides?? I have to back up waterslides, since they tend to have less line and are more fun for me, but coasters are definitely going to win, prolly due to poularity...
UGGGGHHHHHHHHHH
